I'm 85% convinced Gene Belcher is a trans woman and 100% that Gene is definitely not strictly male.
Bob's Burgers has been my take a break show lately so I've been one step away from pure bingewatching it. A lot about the characters has jumped out at me.
I'm definitely Tina, with different fantactism and quirks but similar all the same.
I love Louise more though, but that's no surprise because I've always liked an edgy murderous female character with a soft side. She also has the voice I like the most for the random musical numbers.
Bob's clearly the better parent in the sense of listening and doing what his kids need, but Linda is the more present parent. She knows her kids better, but is more likely to not listen to what they need or want.
Gene, meanwhile, consistently refers to himself with female nouns. He reoccuringly makes comments about being the other sister or having a boyfriend. While he has liked female characters romantically (and I dont remember if he ever talks about being a boyfriend in those), outside those relationships, he talks from a more female position. The show writers present it as comedic relief, which is an unfortunate trope, but I'll give them one thing: the characters never respond that negatively. In fact, his family very often treats his statements with support and reinforcement. Gene is a trans woman and his family all knows it, even if he hasn't found the words for it himself yet.
