The Legacy Center - Oxford, Michigan
On Friday, March 18th my 9-year-old and his friend wanted to go up to The Den at the brand new sports complex in Oxford, Michigan called The Legacy Center. The Legacy Center is a kids dream when it comes to having fun. For a parent, it is a great way to pull the kids from the TV, computer or their phone and let them exercise and interact with people face to face.
The first thing I noticed upon entering the Legacy Center is that they have you sign in the children and sign waivers. They look out for you and their business, a win-win. The cost per kid is $10 for Open Recess. They also have popcorn, candy and drinks available (I just had a popcorn for $1).
The Den inside the legacy center hosts a variety of sports and activities. They have bubble soccer, another field to play football or soccer on, a dodge ball area, batting cages, bounce houses, mazes and many more activities I did not quite get a chance to check out (wanted to watch kids having fun). From what it looks like there are rooms for classes and other workout activities. The place is HUGE, so I will have to return.
During the two hours the kids played, I did not see any kids fighting, sitting down or complaining. Each one was actively involved in the area they were in. The big kids played with the little kids without issue. There were kids as young as 2 or 3 up to pre-teen. It was a refreshing site to see everyone play fair and with ages.
The Legacy Center goes beyond sports. They have offices for local businesses, was told a coffee shop may be going in, and meeting spaces. It is a place for business and pleasure, a combination that all businesses should replicate. The Legacy center is located at 925 North Lapeer Rd. in Oxford.
