If there's one restaurant in New York that I absolutely must blog about, it's Thelewala. I visited this small (but very well decorated) establishment last summer, and still make trips down to Macdougal Street simply to experience the goodness of their Lime Paneer Roll and Chicken Malai roll. Over the last year I've become a bit of a disciple of this beautiful place, spreading the word of Thelewala wherever I go.
This Indian restaurant specializes in Nizami rolls, but features a variety of other plates. The menu is small but packed with flavor. For connoisseurs of Indian cuisine, this is a refreshing find. If you're new to it, fear not- there are spicy and non-spicy options to choose from, as well as veggie choices. Ingredients are fresh and organic, but the price doesn't give this away. Grab a gorgeous flavor bomb of a Nizami roll for $5.50 each. They're open late, so definitely stop here after visiting one (or several) of the area's bars. Filling but light, their food will make you'll feel awesome (even after you take two rolls to the face and then wish you could have one more). Personally, I love to order mine to-go and head to Washington Square Park.
