📸 Behind the Scenes of our photography workshop with @rsrillustration at #thelibraryatwillesdengreen ! 📸 Our Photography workshop welcomed the public to create a styled photoshoot inspired by the life and times of their family members or historical figures. @themixedmuseum This shoot was created by @rsrillustration , inspired by photographs of her mothers second wedding to her husband Malcom in the early 1990s. In the background, Rosalyn has used fabrics and papers to imitate the affect of her getting out of car just like the @rollsroycecars my grandmother (Margaret Drinkwater) is getting out of in the second photo on her wedding day in #Cricklewood (Swipe to see more!) With help from local artist Warren Reilly, participants pulled references from their family images as inspiration to create their own styled photoshoot. Participants worked with both DSLR and Film Cameras, creating stunning outcomes. Are you fascinated by your own or Brent’s mixed-race or multicultural family history? Are you a Brent resident or have links to the area? Have you ever wanted to explore history through creative practice? Then our MOOD BOARD workshop is the one for you!  In this practical workshop, You will bring a photograph or personal possession from your family archive or be inspired by the many colourful stories we have unearthed during research for the BTCOTC project to use as a starting point to create a mood board about the life and times of your family members or historical figures. With help from local artist Warren Reilly, @wr.designs_ you will pull references from the images to help gain insights into your own or Brent’s mixed race and multicultural history. By the end of the workshop, you will have a finished Mood board which you can continue to add to or refine in your own time. All art materials, fabrics and research resources will be provided, but these may be limited so we also encourage you to bring your own! Printing costs are also free of charge during this workshop, which is kindly sponsored by #thelibraryatwillesdengreen . You do not have to be from a mixed-race family to take part - If you would like to produce a mood board based on one of the figures from mixed race and multicultural families we have been researching during By The Cut of Their Cloth then you can participate in the project using them as inspiration. We are very proud our participant @ikonshepherd for The Fashioning our History Project during @lboc2020 releasing his first online photography zine! Discover the Zine Here: http://www.urbanroll.net/ikon-shepherd-return-to-africa/ This includes works that have now been inaugurated into the @brentmuseumandarchives as part of the @foh.brent 2021 exhibition at #thelibraryatwillesdengreen Oscar told us: “The photography album shows how great africans are as kings and queens even before colonization. A continent with unique cultures, arts, fashion, rich in minerals and a great heritage . Here in Africa we tell great stories through festivals, photography and Arts. Some of which are in remembrance of our great ancestors who were captured and enslaved. Art festivals are used in essence to talk about our hidden fears and the strength we’ve acquired throughout the years. As 2019 was the “Year Of Return” and also 2020 being “Beyond The Return”, a journey inviting the African family abroad back home and to encourage African diasporas to come back home , to settle and invest in the continent. It also mark 400 years of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in Jamestown, a town in the central part of Accra Ghana. 2020 being “Beyond The Return” was aimed to build upon the relationship of Africans.” Participants of our project are part of a great legacy and are continuing to go on to do great things!
