Got no business here, or by the looks of it on a ship. Elona sounds like a disaster and they want a vacation there. Idiots should swim there. Get out of my city. 

Refugees lost everything and you wander around like they don't hurt. You don't know what its fucking like to lose your only home

The Dauntless Donator

It was cold. It was miserably, punitively cold, which she assumed was the point. Under the ragged leathers, her toes and fingers fared the worst of it, though they were past the point of feeling much of anything now. What pained her most was the chill ache in her joints, and the shoulder hefting her burden against her back. It seemed a cruel and unusual punishment, one she would trade for a traditional incarceration any day-- Though again, that was likely the point.

What was beyond her understanding, was why must she pay her penance while the children played and scattered through the city? Wouldn't it be simpler for everyone if she visited the orphanage itself, maybe in the afternoon around lunchtime, when the kids would be gathered and the fires would be lit..

Ah yes. The point.

Ever the sadists, the Seraph made certain she would suffer to "learn her lesson". The dues she owed society would be paid in physical hardship, or they would find an alternative-- One surely worse than what she endured now.

They might even bar her from the taverns. The thought shook the former bandit, and renewed her gumption to finish this task before she gave them cause. Adjusting the grip on her bag, she trudged through the western commons with reinforced vigor. Already she had made half of her deliveries, and the canvas sack was admittedly a tolerable weight. If she hurried, there was a good chance she might have it emptied before dusk.

"Miss?" A small voice came from behind, and on turning about she found a short child holding a gift wrapped in green paper. "You dropped this."

Thelinia blinked as he offered her the present, and she took it in her hands dumbly. "Eh.. Thanks."

Then the child pointed behind himself, at the tracks she had left in the snow. Intermingled in the path of dirty ice sat several more presents, trailed behind her like green and silver breadcrumbs.

Her expression fell entirely, the bag slipping from her shoulder to rest in the snow. That certainly explained her eased burden. On inspection, there was indeed a hole in its side where the gift boxes had strained the canvas and burst through. Neverminding the presence of the boy, she uttered a simple.. "Shit."

The next few minutes would be spent rescuing the boxes, the child kind enough to help out. Without a better option, the gifts had to be stacked on the safety of the bag, and when the pile was filled, she was confronted with the next hindrance to her quest: How was she meant to carry them now?

As she pulled the long-tailed cap off her head and combed her fingers through her hair, the child asked rather suddenly that she wait right there. "Wh-"

He had already run off. Without much choice, the ex-bandit stood in the middle of the road to stand by. She replaced the red cap snuggly against her head, regretful she had removed it at all-- As much as she despised it and its ridiculous poof at the tail. On seeing the boy return, relief struck her: The little guy had brought a sled. A small one fit for no more than two children, but a sled and its lead nonetheless.

Extending the hand that pulled it, the boy offered the sled wordlessly. Hesitating, Thelinia received it gingerly, and nodded to him. "Th.. Thanks, kid."

She earned a smile from the boy, who scurried off the way he came before she could utter another word. Dumbfounded, she stood and watched him as he hurried down the road and disappeared, before carrying on with her assignment.

With the presents stacked and safe, Thelinia resumed her search for children in need of Wintersday cheer..

Hollow Headcanon

Ever since the loss of her fiancé all those years ago, Thelinia has felt a hollowness. She never looked to fill it, knowing better than to try. But it cost her her vision of the future, and her place in it. Without him, her life feels hollow.

For the meta: how do you feel out where a character is liable to go as far as their daily lives and mindset are concerned? Where's Kezza at right now? Thelinia? And how do you see their situations changing?

That's a good question.. I'm not really sure? I can only think to say, it's just that I know them. Kinda like how when you get to know someone well, you can anticipate their behavior or feelings about different subjects. Then you learn how they think, how they perceive the world and respond to it. But more than that.

There's not just personalities; they have methods of thinking, always influenced by their evolving experiences. It's a lot to take stock of and organize appropriately, don't get me wrong.. But I guess I've just been playing them for so long that sorting it all out usually feels automatic. I keep track of where they are and that guides me, because I don't really pre-plot roleplay. I can try to predict how things might play out, but my characters act organically, in the moment, and I just sort of observe them.

Uh. As for Kezza? Well, her partner has been gone months longer than expected with no clear return in sight, so she's been increasingly worried and lonely. She's still managing to do her job, and raise her progeny, but it's wearing her down. It hasn't helped that most of her passion for her career was ripped away when she was demoted, and she's still really struggling to come to terms with it. She's a workaholic without meaningful work, and a home life under duress, so there's little left to fall back on. She hasn't really spent time on her therapy either. She's certainly going to hit a breaking point if the situation continues to decline.

Thelinia is not doing much better. She's thrown herself into a dangerous situation out of desperation, and worse, dragged someone along who might pay for it. She's not even sure why she's doing it, and knows it's probably a mistake, but hasn't been able to bring herself to stop. Not yet, anyway. Now face to face with the dire circumstances, she's finally considering that she doesn't know how much further she'll go, hesitating in what was otherwise a blind and wild goose chase. But giving up means giving up on the only real friend she's known in her adult life. Another loss of many, and one that she feels personal guilt over. I'm looking forward to seeing where she goes from here, because she's not been challenged like this before and it's really interesting to see.

I want more so YAH, LOVE, LOYALTY, and HUMBLE for Thel

YAH : Thel will always agree that men are not to be trusted, even in spite of the good men in her life. 

LOVE : She does, even if he’s been gone for years and presumed dead.

LOYALTY : Almost. She was at least passingly loyal to the bandits she ran with during the height of bloodstone peddling.

HUMBLE : It can take her off guard if praise is offered in earnest. She might agree with confidence if the situation had her blood pumping already, but just praise outside of action would be unexpected, and maybe even met with skepticism.
