You said that infant Pythons will mimic snakes, do you have an example of that?
Smaugust day 21 - Biology, Juvenile Python Dragon
heres a hatchling of the Black-Throated Python i drew for last year! they mimic hognose snakes and exhibit a lot of the same behaviours when distressed. in this case the mimicker and mimickee actually benefit from eachother as Python dragons still retain venom glands as hatchlings!
My first ever commission! Of @theload's dragon OC, Landilizandra. Check out her page to learn more! And if you too want a commission similar to this one, hit me up.

For your planetary dragons, do you have any lore regarding like a creator deity or something like how it came into being?
Sorry this is a late reply!! And I haven't thought up anything about where they came from/how they were created. I'm not sure if I wanna leave that unanswered or not dfjgn
The best part of Lovecraft is he doesn't own anything he made, so we can use it however we want.
Attention everyone! Nyarlothotep is now a naughty Grindr fuckboy and Elder Things taste like cucumbers because I said so. Hshdhdjsjsjh
You don't need to publish this, but I just noticed your pronouns have changed. Do you prefer they/them now or he/him still? Or does it not matter? Also like, congratulations doesn't seem like the right thing to say, but I'm glad you figured this out about yourself.
So... I think “figured this out” is a bit of an overstatement, because I’m kind of still in the process of that. Changing my pronouns in my social media bios is sort of my “safe” way of experimenting with, uh, the possibility of my identity, I guess. Like... I’m not sure what I am yet, which is why I list both he-him, which both doesn’t feel right but also doesn’t feel like something I can divorce myself from, and they/them, which... I don’t know if that feels right, yet, but it’s the best I’ve got so far for the... doubts I’ve been feeling, I guess?
“He” doesn’t quite fit, at least not on its own, so I’m trying on “they” to see if it does, but I’m not sure it fits either yet. And putting them in a social media bio felt like a safe way to experiment since people almost never notice those.
A few people have at this point though and that kinda feels like... a next step, I guess? Like a sign to go just a little bit more public with it? But I’m still not sure yet about what it is that’s going on with my identity here, so... I might backtrack from this or something. Whatever this is, it’s been a process.
Have you ever considered writing and publishing a book on your spirit species? Either specific ones (like a book about dragons) or a general one?
Thank you so much for asking! Fun fact, I actually have a degree in creative writing! It’s my goal to one day publish a novel, but for the time being The Dragon’s Library is my full-time job and it takes up most of the time and energy I have on any given day. Still, I have a lot of life ahead of me, so I can’t count out the future!
As far as writing a reference book for spirit species, I have free public encyclopedia pages for many of the species I work with, meant to be an introduction to their culture for those who are also interested in working with them! It’s a constant work in progress, but I think it’s already so difficult to find good and accurate information on spirit work and spirit species that I’m not interested in putting this information up behind a paywall.
And finally, I have actually been working on a general nonfiction how-to book on spirit companionship, and I plan to include basic profiles on common spirit species (like dragons, unicorns, vampires, etc.) within the book. It’s a slow work in progress but I’m hoping to pitch it to Llewellyn when I’m done, or otherwise self-publish it!
