In a very similar way to "the magicians" where Eliot ( Mike in this situation) has to confront his internalized homophobia and it's revealed that q actually asked him out ( that we the audience didn't see perhaps what did you do Mike in the last 18 months gate) and he rejected out of fear and only by confronting the memories he's able to break out of the possession. ( The shoulder shove of season 5 reminded me of the last scene) people insisted queliot was one sided *that Quentin didn't return Eliot's feelings* for multiple seasons till they were proven wrong a season before , I really hope byler does the same.
