Paash (September 9, 1950 – March 23, 1988) was the pen name of Avtar Singh Sandhu, one of the major poets of the Naxalite movement in the Punjabi literature of the 1970s. He published his first book of revolutionary poems, Loh-Katha (Iron Tale), in 1970. His militant and provocative tone raised the ire of the establishment and a murder charge was brought against him. He spent nearly two years in jail, before being finally acquitted. His strongly anti-establishment views were reflected in his poetry. He was killed by Khalistani extremists on March 23, 1988. "Unke shabd lahu ke hote hain" is a short poem revering the human persistence and bravery.

"Sabse Khatarnaak Hota Hai" originally written in Punjabi as "Sab ton Khatarnaak Hunda Ae" is a poem that jolts the reader/listener through it's searing words and imagery. It is a call to arms, almost revolutionary in it's expression.

Jan Nisar Akhtar (18 February 1914 – 19 August 1976) was an important 20th century Indian poet of Urdu ghazals and nazms, and a part of the Progressive Writers' Movement, who was also a lyricist for Bollywood and the father of Javed Akhtar. During the period of four-year to his death he published three collections of his works most important of them being, Khak-e-Dil (The Ashes of Heart"), which has his representative poems from 1935 to 1970, and which won him the Sahitya Akademi Award (Urdu) in 1976.

Sachchidananda Hirananda Vatsyayan 'Agyeya'

(7 March 1911 – 4 April 1987), popularly known by his pen-name Ajneya ("Beyond comprehension"), was a pioneer of modern trends not only in the realm of Hindi poetry, but also fiction, criticism and journalism. He was one of the most prominent exponents of the Nayi Kavita (New Poetry) and Prayog (Experiments) in Modern Hindi literature, edited the 'Saptaks', a literary series, and started Hindi newsweekly, Dinaman.

Agyeya also translated some of his own works, as well as works of some other Indian authors to English. He also translated some books of world literature into Hindi.

"Ghar" is an anthology of his five short poems on the topic. What are homes, what are houses and what makes a place home? These poems are an exploration of these questions and answers.
