Or, you could also say that is where his fall into madness truly began, heh.

Fun Fact! The earliest copies of Gameboy Tetris did NOT feature Korobeiniki as Theme A. Instead, a particular minuet was used.

Oftentimes people consider the black Tengen NES bootleg Tetris the hardest to find, but most people are completely unaware of *this* version, which is 5 times as rare as Tengen Tetris. Only ~25,000 were ever made, which is miniscule by Tetris standards.

In the revised version Theme A became a cross between Korobeiniki and Troika and it is what we know as the Tetris Theme today.

This version is more or less functionally identical to the extremely common version, with a few changed score mechanics. But it is still the absolute rarest official Tetris cartridge in existence.

I'm lucky enough to have one, and let me tell you, playing GB Tetris with Minuet vs. Korobeiniki is so odd.

Oh, and the reason why you never hear theme B is because Nintendo owns the rights to theme B as it is an original song, which is why it isn't present in almost any Tetris game. Nintendo also holds the rights to the specific version of theme A that includes the snippet from Troika, which is why any Tetris you play has a version of Korobeiniki that's more aligned to the original song (which is in the public domain).
