2017, Wasteland Weekend 2017 camp build for Cult of the Glowing [Pack] Brahmin. (Spoiler: that structure never returned. Cool in theory, heart in the right place, *okay* build, awful execution.) Not pictured: General Shop Stand and Camp Sign.
So I got this crazy idea..
..that I should do a Mighty Boosh theme camp for Starwood next year. Yeah! Only I got to thinking - what would a Boosh theme camp even *look* like? Sure, I could re-christen my vendor booth as the Nabootique. And I suppose I could serve garlic naan (aye). A monkey head would be de rigeur. But what else? I actually would kinda prefer *not* to feature Old Gregg, not leasy because I find Baileys disgusting. But would I pick one episode, or a combination, or - ? Thoughts welcome!
BIG DUUUBBB!!!!!! This weekend was life changing. I feel so refreshed and exhilarated. I lost so much stuff and it's all made it's way back to me. I miss the love and excitement, waking up in a tent, being outside in nature. Such paradise. My friends and I got so many compliments and made so many people laugh and smile with our theme camp. Acid Wolfpack AAAAOOOWWWW!!!!!! I'm really proud of myself for making all the kandi for our guessing game. And I'm so pumped that a lot of people wanted to play! I miss all the love already. I know that I still carry it with me as a I reassimilate into "normal" society so I won't dwell on the fact that it's over. I'll hold on to the memories and wait to do it all again next year.
Camp Rock Star - A New Burning Man Theme Camp
Today, I discovered Camp Rock Star, a new Burning Man theme camp that is emerging to bring more live music to the playa. Apparently, a few bands I love and have reviewed will be performing there and I'd wanted to take a quick moment to shed some light on their dream. 2014 is their maiden voyage, and I would love to see them succeed and grow! An excerpt from their MANIFESTO: You're a musician. You're in a band. You're a badass, cosmic magician and want the world to witness your mad science. So you send a thousand emails, think of clever promotional strategies, drag your gear across town, mix your own record in your bedroom, and dream of the day when your hard work will pay off and you can just be what you know you already are ... a ROCK STAR!
Why wait? We are a group of musicians and artists who realized that by combining our resources and leveraging the spirit of Burning Man, one of the largest festivals in the world, we can fulfill our artistic visions and share our music with 70,000+ people NOW! At CAMP ROCK STAR, you'll spend a week living and working with 40 other musicians, visual artists, tech geeks, and visionaries from around the world, share the stage, rig lights, run sound, pop champagne, and dance your ass off. You'll revel in the creative, playful ARTISTIC MINDFUCK that is Burning Man. Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to perform your music while being fully supported by a crew of badasses who will help you realize your vision. From the interactive projections, prismatic lighting, and stage design you've always dreamed of, to the killer VIP backstage treatment, performing is STRESS-FREE. There's something undeniably special about creative, passionate people coming together to make something HUGE. Let's inspire each other to dream bigger and challenge our assumptions about what's possible. So.. what was the last time you felt like a ROCK STAR?
