definition: a musica xenogender related to pansy division or any of their songs

flag: a flag with several concentric rings. the outside ring is barely visible, just barely showing in the corner, but it is a purple-ish black. the next ring is orange-yellow, the next bright pink, the next two shades of purple that form a gradient with the pink. inside is a circle that is the same black color as the outer ring and an upside down triangle the same shade of bright pink.

extra notes: colors inspired by the album covers of undressed, that’s so gay, and total entertainment!

Lesbians on Ecstasy

Ok, things are getting meta-queercore here. Lesbians on Ecstasy (whose name is a play on Chicks on Speed), formed in 2003 at a party, when the soon-to-be-band-members thought it would be a great idea to produce dance takes on classic lesbian songs. 

Their debut album ensued, featuring electroclash reimaginings of songs by (among others) kd lang, Melissa Etheridge, and original queercore pioneers Fifth Column, whose "All Women Are Bitches" they render in Bitchsy here.

Team Dresch

Team Dresch were founded by queercore scene veteran Donna Dresch in 1993, and were possibly the gayest band of the riot grrrl movement, if not the entire 90s. 

Band members Kaia Wilson and Melissa York went on to found The Butchies, but the original Team Dresch line-up have sporadically reformed on various occasions since 2004.  

This song, Fagetarian and Dyke, was the opening track on their debut album, Personal Best, which is probably the second most lesbian title you could have for an album. The most lesbian title you could have for an album is Crying Into My Quinoa Because My Straight Best Friend Doesn't Love Me Back.

Tribe 8 - Femme Bitch Top

Tribe 8 were another crusading dykey queercore band, which is great and everything, but I have to admit that this video gives me bad early-90s-terrible-lesbian-films vibes, and the early 90s is possibly the nadir of the whole terrible-lesbian-film pantheon. 

Anyway, despite Tribe 8 being an obvious pun on tribadism, I have also discovered that it is the name of an RPG system set in post-Apocalyptic Montreal. I don't think it has anything to do with lesbians.

I really don't think I have anything useful to say about this band.

Formed as a post-punk experimental outfit in the early 80s, Fifth Column were major players in Toronto's nascent queercore scene and a huge influence on approximately a gazillion riot grrrl bands.
