Tony hated this, hated having to wait to finally get some reasoning behind everything that had happened. It had been nearly a week since Thanos, since the deaths of billions of people and then their sudden return as the mad titan had been brought down. Of course once again the Avengers were called heroes for their acts, the heroic deeds that led to their universe being made whole again after an unthinkable disaster but none of that sat well with the Iron Man. No, not at all, if anything being praised only made the man feel worse.
None of them there who were congratulating him for his actions had been on Titan than day, if the rest of humanity had seen just how it had went down maybe they too would be sickened by what Tony Stark had caused in the face of catastrophe. The Time Stone, one of the final pieces needed by Thanos to destroy so many lives, had been given up in exchange for him. That thought still weighed heavily on his mind as the scene of everyone vanishing around him was a constant nightmare which plagued his waking thoughts.
There was one person he could talk about it with, just one who could possibly have more insight than himself and that was the good Doctor who had offered up the infinity gem to Thanos. Could he really just ask him though? Would Stephen even want to talk about it? After all it had been a horrific experience for everyone and no one had wanted to bring that mess back up again after it had ended...
Curiosity won out in the end, as it always did.
“Hey Doc,” Tony’s voice rang out as the inventor peered over the book he pretended to be reading as he say across the sanctum library’s large oak table from the Master of the Mystic Arts. “Would you mind if I ask you a few questions? I’m going to warn you now it’ll be a rather dark topic and if they bother you then we can end it whenever you like...”
