Mixed Company Project and Black Sex Workers Visibility Project Collaborative Alliance
The Mixed Company Project is honored to announce our partnership and strategic, collaborative alliance with the Black Sex Workers Visibility Project. Our platform continues the longstanding tradition of Black Artists and Writers- many of whom have also been Sex Workers-as reflections, archivists, and advocates for radical liberation as it is expressed through complex intersectionality and our most expansive expressions of self. “Those that exist outside the fatuous walls protecting what is deemed respectable from the vulgar and the obscene are eroding those walls. We are through with asking robber barons and master manipulators why they can monetize and profit off of our sexuality, yet when we do the same, we are alienated from society, brutalized, caged, and annihilated. We have no cares for tidy and civil discourse. We do not have time to run around in circles! We abstain from sitting at your table if the cost of inclusion is objectification and tokenization. And while some of us exist in the shadows, employing the protection of inconspicuousness, others have already broken into your house… and we lay, sumptuously draped in bedroom sheets. We are healers and diviners doing sacred work. And we don’t need your permission to take what is rightfully ours.”
