Something I haven’t seen a lot of people comment on was how hurt Criston looked when Alicent demanded he remove Luke’s eye. Like we barely saw it and I feel like it didn’t matter the room was full. If it was in private he probably would’ve acted the same. In that moment she used him for his own gains regardless of how it would effect him. She was no better than Rhaenyra, the other side to the coin same coin he’s hated for the last decade.
Yeah, to Criston and Alicent their moral superiority is important to them, they can't be like Team Black, disregarding duty and honor. That's why Alicent looked upset when he called Rhaenyra a spoiled cunt, he's better than that. And when Alicent snaps (which was understandable) he's also upset because not only has she gone against their moral code but he's also placed her upon this pedestal only for her to turn out a human being who has a breaking point and has reached it.
