Hi. Can one be sex repulsed without being actually asexual? I enjoy erotica and erotic art, a lot, and I can find people attractive and masturbate, but I would never want the physical reality of it, the sweat/odor/fluids. And I don't have the stamina or the patience. I have had several encounters and it was all gross and boring. I just wanted it to be over and leave, and trying to be polite because I wanted a romantic relationship. And confused because while I could fantasize about it, I truly hate it in reality. Also, I don't want the health risks, which disgusts me -- that people expect me to risk my health like that. I was just wondering if there are people who relate, and also what would you call my experiences ... just sex repulsed and not truly on the ace spectrum? I identified as asexual for a long time, lacking another word, but also feeling like I didn't fit the definition.
Yes yes yes! Absolutely! Asexuality and repulsion to sex can, but do not have to be connected. And I even have a label for you, if you'd like to check it out: you might be aegosexual.
Aegosexual people lack the desire to be involved in sexual activities themselves. Aegosexuals experience sexual attraction and sexual arousal in different ways. Aegosexuals are aroused by sexual content, pornography and may enjoy masturbation but they only enjoy sexual fantasies. An aegosexual individual does not want to have sex with another person.
Hope this helps! And if you have more questions, feel free to ask! I'm not aegosexual myself but I'm willing to help to the best of my abilities.
