@themoonlightburns | Time Turner!verse
Everything had become one massive disaster.
Five turns. She was only supposed to give the turner five turns...but when Death Eaters came bursting through the door and her friends were in immediate danger, her mind became distracted, and her fingers fumbled with the piece around her neck. It began to spin past her control, the amount of turns becoming uncountable as the blonde’s terrified eyes watched the Order instead of what she was supposed to be doing. And then everything began to blur and melt together in her vision. People rushed backwards, night became day and became night again, and all the confused woman could do was witness it.
And just like that, all movement ceased.
Adelina was left staring around at the dark and empty room where, a mere moment before, her friends were battling for their lives. She slipped the time turner under the neck of her shirt and rushed out of the room, finding her way quickly out of the building and onto the desolated street. Where was she?
And more importantly...when was she?
A noise behind her startled her, and she spun around with wand in the air, her eyes narrowed and her body tense for a fight. However, it was simply a stray black dog, its head tilting to the side as it regarded her. With a long exhale of breath, her wand arm lowered to her side. She was about to walk up to inspect it further until she heard loud shouting and something akin to a blast. The young witch hastily turned away from the animal and began to run towards the noise, hoping she could receive answers about...well, everything...
Into the bushes she maneuvered herself until she was well hidden, and she glanced out at the madness occurring before her eyes. There were wizards standing yards away from each other, different colored streaks of light flying back and forth between them. But this was no casual duel. Voices were spitting curses and yelling taunts and threats, while others were bold and fierce yet, also, a touch of kindness underneath them.
That’s when she saw his face.
“My word...” Her whisper was breathless upon noticing the scars littering the wizard, her mind instantly making the connection even though he was much younger. There were less lines on his features, making his countenance more comely and gentle. He was different and yet still looked just like the man she knew. “Remus...”
He and his friends were battling against what appeared to be Death Eaters, and her heart sank in her chest. None of the faces at his side appeared familiar to her, but then again, there were Order members who had passed long before she became acquainted with the Order. That must have meant...Adelina was stuck further back in the past than she had planned for. Much further.
“No...no!” One of Voldemort’s followers had stepped past his cohorts and pointed his wand at the occupied Remus, who was busy defending himself against two other Death Eaters, and Adelina decided rather impulsively to meddle. “Remus!” Bursting from the foliage that had been her sanctuary, she rushed forward towards her friend and began to raise her wand at the enemy.
As the spells shot forth in brilliant flashes of blue and purple, the blonde witch reached out with her free hand and pushed against Remus’s shoulder to knock him out of the way. Her spell sent the opposing Death Eater flying backwards, but not before his curse struck her in the upper chest and shoulder, ripping the Time Turner from around her neck in the process. It went smashing to the ground, sand pouring from the broken hourglass inside. An instant pain blossomed in her body from the curse’s strike, sending her collapsing to her knees with a wail of distress.
