Music is our universal language. An ever flowing energy released, the expression of human consciousness and emotion. It sees right through race and class and sets our differences aside. When you play music with someone, you are united in body/mind/soul in that moment. All cultures have different styles of music and have influenced each other in some form or another. As musicians, we would be nowhere without our Black brothers and sisters. They are the heart and soul of music creation. I have never felt a more contagious drumbeat that makes you want to move and shout than that of an African drum circle. I have never had a guitarist melt my brain more than Jimi Hendrix, or felt a more soulful voice than Aretha Franklin. Don't get me started on rapping I have one name for you: @infamoustaz_ In more recent days I have made a new friend from Nigeria and he's been showing me ways of drumming I have never even considered that is taking the music to new levels. This is The Mossburns saying thank you to Black Culture we would not be in existence without you and we stand in your support.
