‘ that one’s mother bear. the world of men call it the big dipper…
( she lifts her finger, almost as if she’s tracing the patterns. it’s been a long time since she’s shown these to anyone. but kara is different. she understands what it’s like to feel… alien. no pun intended. )
‘ she was cast into the sky to protect her son. the little dipper, they call it. and that, the northern cross, we call that the arrow of aphrodite.
---- she stares toward the sky like it makes her feel any less alone on this planet. (earth is her home. and alex is her family. but there's a blunt coiling in her stomach that reminds her that she isn't from here -- that krypton's debris is up there, hung in orbit because there's nothing anyone can do to save it. she couldn't save it. and nor could kal.)
so this is more therapeutic than anything -- she remembers her father, remembers the nights they'd stand overlooking argo city and staring up at the stars. (every constellation sticks in the back of her head, and even now as she glances over to diana, she sees the same kind of nostalgia tinging her voice.)
‘-- do you ever miss your home?’
