4. What type of discipline was your character subjected to at home? Strict? Lenient?
The Zatara home was a fairly warm place. There were rules enforced, but at no point did Zatanna feel that her parents were overbearing. (Other than when she was a teenager) Her parents did push her to work harder at her magic. They wanted her to feel comfortable with her powers, and she’s very thankful for the hours they devoted to helping her control her gift.
Zatanna knew what was expected of her, and she obeyed for the most part as her parents’ demands were fairly reasonable.
11. How do they see themselves: as smart, as intelligent, uneducated?
Zatanna believes that she is intelligent. Could she be more intelligent, yes, but so could most people. Zatanna is always looking for opportunities to learn more, especially about magic.
12. How does their education and intelligence – or lack thereof - reflect in their speech pattern, vocabulary, and pronunciations?
She has a rather impressive vocabulary, but she doesn’t feel the need to throw complex words into conversations that do not call for them.
16. What does your character do for a living? How do they see their profession? What do they like about it? Dislike?
Zee is both a stage magician, and a crime fighter. She sees the magic performance as a legacy she inherited, that she’s proud of. It feels natural for her, it makes her happy. As for the crime fighting, it’s something she feels she’s equipped to do. She is a homo-magi, she has powers that can help people - so she is driven to do just that.
19. What were your character’s deepest disillusions? In life? What are they now?
While it’s probably the same for most heroes, Zatanna once believed that it was possible to juggle her life, and a personal life. She believed that she could be normal outside of her life as a crime fighter.
22. Who are their friends? Lovers? ‘Type’ or ‘ideal’ partner?
Zatanna prefers to surround herself with honest, noble people. She liked passionate people who know what they want out of life. She likes driven people; people who have goals. Goals don’t need to be massive, save the world goals either. Zee likes to better herself, be it learning a new language, or learning a new recipe. So she likes being around something who works toward something.
She loves the exchange of ideas. If she can learn something from you, she really wants you around.
She’s also fond of those who have a good sense of humor, who don’t take themselves too seriously.
26. What does your character’s home look like? Personal taste? Clothing? Hair? Appearance?
Her home always looks as though she doesn’t really live there. Her room looks lived in for a time, but due to her magical abilities, cleaning is a breeze.
The house is decorated with a bit of mismatched furniture. Nothing too distracting, but it showcases the wonder of San Francisco. There is a warm feeling to her home, a little cozy despite the house being an average size.
