@theprissythumbelina is lovely and tagged me to do this word game ages ago (thank u for being patient ah). For each MC in a WIP of your choice, pick out a cool word! Bonus points if you explain why. Since I already did this for The Moon’s Song (here), what about Contact?
Desmines - Mortality (the state of being condemned to the inevitably of death)
Desmines spends most of the WIP fearing their inevitable end and yet desperately wanting it at the same time. It is a constant battle for them, trying to figure out whether death would be better.
Ruthvier - Macabre (disturbing or horrifying because of its involvement with death or injury)
This one should be....self explanatory.
Viri - Interdigitate (to become interlocked like the fingers of holding hands)
Viri is an incredibly supportive and understanding character. She was the light of Desmines’ life; interlocked fingers remind me a lot of her caring personality.
Cassy - Scintillate (to emit sparks; twinkle)
Cassey was a bouncy, bubbly part of Desmines’ life. Enough said.
Oui - Initiative (eagerness to do something)
Oui was the captain of Neptune. Her motivation and drive got her to that position. She’s not afraid to take chances or try something new. She’s a bold leader, though not unwise.
Thendren - Protective (having or showing a strong wish to keep someone or something safe from harm)
Thendren was a Dad Friend(tm) to all. He was extraordinarily protective of his crewmates (he was the one to lock himself in with Ruthvier to distract them, after all) and encouraged Desmines to seek professional help for their depression and anxiety.
Shuten - latibule (a hiding place; a place of safety or comfort)
Shuten was an extraordinarily nervous and awkward person. He would hide in little corners of the ship to get away from people. This is, incidentally, how he met Desmines.
