So Ronie and I did not make calls today for the #EqualityAct #TheNEAT thought it was best for the country to process today’s verdict and goodness was it much needed. I looked and was proud that the jury did the right thing to hold the former officer accountable for his harmful actions that not only took away a man’s life but broke that contract he swore to serve to his community. I think about what the Placer County Sheirff could have done to me had that one officer who did knew and trusted who I was didn’t show up. I think about my family having a funeral for me (and possibly not doing everything that I want them to do with my body. Wrap it in a cloth and bury me don’t buy a casket. I want my body to nourish the Earth and see if it can be an SAO or Night Raid cloth that my body can be wrapped around). I think about how my Father would have had to re-examine his outlook on the role of the police even though he was part of law enforcement. How my mother would have really lost so much will to keep going since I’m the only son that was born out of a previous marriage that was abusive. Siblings that would have missed my insight and reliability and if that outlook into their future would have been derailed. And of course my beautiful kitty Ronie if she would even have a home here since my sister got her for me. And she makes everyday that I keep living from that harmful encounter with the sheriff department just that worth it. I ponder. I cry. I laugh. I move forward. Thanks to that verdict, it’s very much possible to hold those that have the power and claim to serve the people to hold them to that merit. And even though I’m not Black, I am a different skin tone that those in charge around this region would be comfortable especially since my mind and words are quite challenging and important. I care about myself so I can fight for others.
