Post-election blues? Visit the dark and moody #MarkRothko paintings from The "Dark Palette" exhibition at #PaceGallery in #Chelsea through January 7, 2017. They may seem oppressive at first, but with some time, they grow on you. Like all #Rothko multiform paintings, the airy, layered paint brightens with patient looking. After a couple of minutes, your eyes adjust to see the subtleties of purples, greens and blues rising to the front, like an emerging message of hope. Unlike his #AbstractExpressionist contemporaries, #Pollock and #deKooning who embraced #ActionPainting, Rothko turned to introspection, creating these floating "windows" of color, like clouds that hover on large canvases, allowing the viewer to immerse them self within the "halo." #ModernArt #ModernArtist #AbEx #TheNewYorkSchool #AbstractExpressionism #DailyArt #DailyArtist #ArtOfTheDay #ArtistOfTheDay #ArtHistory #HistoryOfArt #ArtEncounters (at Pace Gallery)
RUSTY NAILS AND RAT POISON
miri come murmur in my american ear; israel is a muddle of men & you are a woman winnowing out the scraps, collapsing in chocolate shops—i saw this—i know you—i picked you up by your cheek we rode buses naked & ready touch us, explode us.
when it happens, they’ll know us by our parts alone, so sit next to me let’s mix all the bits & pizza. if you were ever an object, now you’re many. if you were ever too soft, now you’re a soggy slice of ground.
