Tell me some facts about The Nightmare Express from Alex Ness’s Skylanders: Trap Team.
Good stuff, in no particular order:
The Nightmare Express has more or less the same physical form as the Wachowski twins' giant robot from Speed Racer. This explains why it resembles a Giant Beast.
I thought I would hate the idea of riding in a train because of its association with TRAINS, but this train is nothing like a train. It's mostly just a bunch of cars with weird doors in the middle. I enjoyed this, as I enjoy the idea of having a cool vehicle without having to think about trains. I'm happy to be taking a train to wherever we go, without ever getting off. There is nothing to do but look at the scenery.
Speaking of which, Skylanders are on a train. The train was, to the best of my understanding, a real train. (And there's a wikipedia article about how Skylanders takes place on a real train!)
While my memory of the train is hazy, we also spent a lot of time sitting in a train car, and maybe getting off the train and going to a train station. All this time we didn't really get very far – we were at sea, I guess? – but I had fun, it was a different environment, and I enjoyed the novelty.
We also rode in the "Skylander Pod," a car that looks like a flying car from Speed Racer. The driver is a little guy. He says some things which mostly seem to consist of his name (which I forget) followed by "no." I also don't remember if we did any of this stuff on the train itself, or just in the car.
After getting off the train, we also spent a lot of time sitting in a row of waiting cars. One of these cars, I remember, was like a little Hollywood star cruiser, but I didn't recognize it as such because it looked more like a sailboat.
Skylanders had a sailing ship for a while. This didn't go too well for them, as I understand it, but then again, I didn't actually see it happen.
Back on the train, we spent a long time in the back car, where there were a bunch of characters that weren't the main cast, and where I don't think I really saw anything. I do remember one thing about this car, though. One of the little dudes (the driver???) sang "a song," which sounded nice. It was probably about how the train was the only real train, and all other trains were "fake" or "pretend." (He then told me to "play with my friends" and "have fun." I was not too clear on this last part.)
