"I'm not even jealous." Not that she had much of a reason to be jealous, anyway.

It had been a long time since Kai found himself in the particular part of town he was. He could hear the moans of pleasure from strangers far and wide, blood dens and strip clubs taking up most of the street. "What a... lovely night." He said in an irritated tone, his baritone voice likely the only one a human would be able to hear. His phone buzzed in his pocket, causing him to reach into it, eyes leaving the street before him and thoughts too. He thought he heard footsteps, but the explicit picture sent by his... friend had distracted him. It wasnt often he crashed into people at two am at the border of the feeding district, as he so called it, but here he was. He looked down to see a man that could have been injured from hitting him as hard as he did. "Are you okay?" He asked the man who was clearly human.

"Hey - sorry to bother you, but could you point me to the nearest bus station?"

How long had it been since the accident? She didn't know; time was irrelevant now, not that she could keep it if she tried. She'd heard the doctor say that sometimes a person in a coma could hear what everyone said to them, and evidently, she was lucky enough to be one of them. Lucky is one way to put it - she didn't know if she would give it that much credit. Still, it was nice to hear a familiar voice now and then, or any voice at all. She didn't have a family to come visit her, and most of her friends had stopped coming by months ago. Now, the only people that ever said much were Jon and her nurse.
The event that sent her into this seemingly endless comatose state was as commonplace as a car accident. Jon had been driving, and they'd started joking about something - teasing each other, really. It seemed harmless. And then they started arguing, and smiles faded into grimaces and frowns and then --CRASH. A truck collided into the passenger side of the vehicle, leaving Elise with the more severe end of the damage. Clearly, seeing as she hadn't been awake for... Well, as previously mentioned, she didn't know how long.
That event played over and over in her mind when nobody was there to listen to, but it was so vague that she couldn't even remember what they were arguing about. It was like a stranger, watching a blurry TV set without any sound. When Jon was around, though, she listened to his voice, if he had anything to say that day. If not, then she was just happy to hear the door open and shut, and feel the pressure of a hand on hers. That was enough, some days.
She used to hear the door click open and shut more often than she did now. At least, she thought she did - she couldn't really be too sure. She hadn't heard it for a while now, except for her nurse of course, who came in to roll her over now and then to prevent bed sores, and wash her and change her clothes, and who never failed to absently tell Elise about her day while she was at it. Today, though, only minutes after her nurse - who's name was Linda - had left, she heard the door open again, and she could have sworn that her heart rate would have leapt if it could have. It had to be Jon. Didn't it?

Have you got a reason for quoting Stephen King at me?"
