There was always a few nights out of the year that G’raha made a point to visit a few special places in Eorzea that held such beauty in his heart. It had been only a few weeks since his reawakening, and he intended on sticking to this tradition. It was something he picked up after he had finished his studies at the Sharlayan Academy, and he would always write letters to his mother, describing the view. She had always praised his talent as a bard, but still encouraged him to do more than just describe the scenery. She often joked that she expected a painting of the view next time. The memory brought a smile to his lips.
He hadn’t wasted a moment since his awakening. Tataru had already begun working on some new clothes for him, and the rest of the Scions began briefing him on all that he had missed since his deep sleep in the tower. He had some spare clothes that Thancred had laying around, and he was more than generous about allowing him to borrow them for a trip. It was rather embarrassing to mention the purpose of it, but he seemed to understand after an awkward silence and the roses that colored his cheeks. He shivered, remembering the rough slap on the back he got from the man. Even as a Hyur, Thancred had more strength than an Aurochs.
His tail flicked in the cold air of the holy city. The sun had just started to set, but it hadn’t quite dipped it’s golden disc below the jagged horizon of mountains just yet. He still had plenty of time before he could even consider being late. He had sent a letter to Ser Aymeric almost upon reawakening from the tower to prepare for his arrival, but to make it discreet. The man kept his word, as was to be expected of the Lord Commander of the Temple Knights. He breathed hot air into his shivering hands as he pushed open the door to the Forgotten Knight.
G’raha could feel the warmth of the fire below, and the din of the bar was more welcoming than the wicked cold outside. Descending the staircase, he spotted a familiar head of hair moving from the bar to a table near the fireplace. He kept his footsteps quiet, praying to the Twelve that he still had his hunter’s dexterity to keep his movement quiet. It wasn’t prey he was stalking, but an old friend...one that he held very close to his heart. His heart pounded more wildly with each step, and the descent felt like a crawl as he reached the main floor of the inn.
He stepped quickly over to the bar, ordered a warm mug of ale and placed the appropriate amount of gil on the table. Never once did he take his gaze off of the woman by the fire. Grabbing his mug, he quietly crept over to the table. He hadn’t removed his hood yet, but he knew it would take a moment for her to recognize him. Taking in a deep breath through his nose, trying to calm his nerves, he called out to her. “Is this seat taken?”
