17. Why do you think you connect to your muse?
He was the first character that was introduced as someone who likes to make everything an adventure. Not only was he smart, and he was passionate about his research, but he made gathering materials for Cid a game. I love having fun. I love making jokes. I like being unpredictable, and I absolutely love being childishly dumb and playful.
That small hint that they gave us with pre Shadowbringers G’raha was enough to make me feel so at home with his character. Everything is always an adventure. I am a passionate person, I love to put my all into everything I do (even if I’m busy a lot), and he is probably the only character I’ve had this strong of a connection to since I started the game last year.
There are other characters I enjoy from FFXIV, but none connect as deeply with my internal workings quite as well as G’raha Tia.
maskedmuses:
For a moment, she was taken aback by the man that had exited the library. Not hooded, hidden away from a gaze, instead in full reveal for her, and her alone, to see. Soft red hair, an aged face tainted with weariness of running a city and crystal that crept up his neck, words died in her throat as she stared upon the Exarch. Truly, he was nothing more than a man, rather than some looming figure, and her heart lurched in her chest with moderate realization that should have been known from the start.
He was mortal, just as she, and had the weight upon his shoulders that she could not fathom.
“Uncomfortable is a word for it.” Azuna spoke finally, her gaze drifting down as he bowed, lips still pursed. “I feel as if they had done so only by your command, which is comfort, but also curious.” Of course it was simply that she was no more than a new resident, and he the ever so doting Exarch to his people.
Examining his arm, slowly she moved to hook her own around it, taking a small moment to press palm to skin. A brief glimmer of silver in her gaze, the activation of an innate healing asset, the woman sought to investigate the status of his being, yet found herself halted. The crystal encroached and hindered her, causing the Healer to look away.
“Aye, it does.” She remarked, allowing herself to tug him slightly, as if offering him to rest against her. “More than I was expecting. Your markets are fruitful here, and the soil is rich.” Her gaze, a resumed sandy hue, flickered back to his revealed face. “And the people seem to be rather fond of you, yet only hold you akin to a deity. Do they know of your face, as I now do, or is this somewhat of a special occurrence?”
He took in a long, tired breath as they stepped out of the Ocular and headed towards the interior of the Dossal Gate. The Exarch sensed her hesitation as she touched his arm. It was no great feat for him to sense the gentle movement of her Aether as she wrapped her arm around his. Having the power of the Crystal Tower in its entirety at his fingertips included some welcomed, but unexpected benefits. He relaxed his limb in hers, sensing her concern for his well-being. He had been both blessed and cursed by tempering himself with the tower. The opportunity to extend his life gave him access to untapped power, but also took its toll in the form of the need for sustenance and rest. On occasion he would feel the ebb of basic needs tugging at his body, and he would fulfill those requirements and then return to his inhuman routine.
He halted for a moment and blinked in disbelief and comprehension. It wasn’t often he was seen without his protective coverings, but it wasn’t rare for him to explore the Crystarium without his hood. They knew his face, most knew the toll the tower took on him, and they respected his privacy despite their curiosity. He smiled, realizing that the expression he was wearing must have appeared to be one of horror in reaction to her question.
“It is true, I have asked them to include the route to your abode. I assure you it is more out of protection than any need for deception. The few landscapes that remain of Norvrandt are still under the plague of Light and the Sin Eaters. It would not suit me well to welcome another into the solace and security of the Crystarium without ensuring that you and your home are safe.” He cleared his throat. It had been some time since he had last eaten, and he could feel the pit form in his stomach.
“I am glad you are finding comfort here. I know Kholusia was your home, and a change of scenery can be fraught with uncertainty.” He smiled, but the smile did not reach his eyes. He was tired, but he was always tired. So much work to be done, and even with the vast wells of energy the Tower can provide me, I still am left wanting for more... he thought.
“You think so?” Her comment raised his eyebrow. “Maybe Lyna hasn’t been truthful with me after all.” The Exarch offered her a toothy grin. It wasn’t often he joked anymore, but on the rare occasion it was a small boost his soul needed to continue about the day. “They do,” he nodded as they stepped out into the unnatural light of the day. “It is more a formality than to keep my identity a secret. How can they trust a man they cannot see? It is not for a want of privacy, but for my own comforts that I hide my face. The crystal that covers parts of my body is a great cause for concern for some, and I prefer they worry not about the state of my health. The people here have more pressing concerns than my appearance,” he sighed.
He treated the Crystarium and her people like a doting father. They all looked to him for guidance, and protection every day since he had arrived. Granted, it took him some time to gain their trust, but that was generations ago. It would break his heart to find if they had been following him blindly like the people that had flocked to Eulmore in recent months. Yet, Azuna had more apprehensions and suspicions than any of his current citizens. It was almost refreshing to speak with someone who did not revere him so highly.
18. What aspect of your muse’s personality is most important to you? What aspect of your muse’s personality do you think is most important to them? Is it the same? Why or why not?
That right there is a tough question. I personally value thoughtfulness, generosity, and kindness out of all traits a person may or may not have. I both love and respect G’raha Tia as a character. This may be a bit personal, but he reminds me a lot of my husband. The way he tries so hard and gives his all for his friends and those he cares about, and his sense of responsibility that transcends all things he does is just so refreshing. There are many members of the scions who have these qualities, but he displays each one with intention and with a softness that shields us from the hard edge that hides underneath. I think the aspect of his personality that is most important to me is his unspoken need for childishness. His playful nature is not often seen in game, and I enjoy seeing him having more realistic facets to his character. Most adults my age have the ability to switch between childish jokes and conversation to more serious and important topics, and I feel like it reflects everything that my generation is going through right now. It’s comforting to be able to relate to a beloved character like that.
For G’raha? I think it would be too hard for him to choose just one aspect of his own personality that he considers the most important. He is far too modest of his own abilities and skills that I feel he fails to recognize when he is actually succeeding with his fellow Scions. Based on my interpretation of him, and how I see him in game, I feel that he considers his drive and determination to help his friends succeed as his most important aspects of his personality. Though he wouldn’t admit it, he enjoys others taking credit where credit is due, and will deny having been involved in most things. He reminds me of the friend that is always cheering on and supporting his friends whenever he can.
Our views are not the same at all. Just like how I see my friends in real life, I see the things I personally value in people in G’raha’s character. Just like how my friends see me in real life, I have no complete grasp of how they view me or how they don’t fully understand how I see them. What one values in themselves is not what others value in them from an outside perspective, and most of the time it’s just nice to see how those two things differ.
If I was able to sit down and actually speak with G’raha Tia, I think he would be surprised at my perspective of him. I think he would be slightly embarrassed because he wouldn’t know that I view those kinds of subtle things when I spend time with people. I always find the charm a person has, whether they are aware of their own charm or not, and I think it would genuinely surprise him that someone paid that much attention to him. I think he would really only reply with how he views himself and his most important aspect was his need to help others, but I think that’s the answer he would give because it was expected of him to give that answer. I’m not sure he would have the courage to admit that his child-like desire and sense of adventure were really his driving forces, but it’s not for the sake of being a hero in a story. Having his name written in histories and legends is more of a bonus, and he just wants to enjoy the ride with a group of people he’s close with, while also doing something good for the world.
(I could write a novel on this stuff, trust me. I’ll leave it as is, though. XD)

candideangel:
“I’d love that. Really I’ve been meaning to up my artisan skills, metal work would be fun to add. Because I had a gift I wanted to give Alphinaud, a sketchbook.” she chuckled and rubbed the back of her neck a little. “He’s always been like a brother to me, often taking me in stride for better or worse. Felt like I could do something for him at least.” she looked thoughtful but there was a radiant smile on her lips as often it was, unlike the start of her journey when she was…relatively straight faced. “Good thing I packed plenty of parchment to draw ideas down.”
Lightly she leaned against the chair and looked down at him, “Cargo ships aren’t always for entertainment, unless you want to join the crew for an evening of drinking.” Angelique teased and would tilt her head a little bit when he revealed his tail floundering around. “Well with the pillow between us, it should be safe from any…tossing and turning that may occur. Lest we want your tail accidentally pulled in the middle of the night, aye?” Angelique tried to play it off as simple, but the night terrors that plagued from time to time did cause her to shift uncontrollably around…and hopefully it wouldn’t bother her companion if such an event occured.
Moving away from the chair the bard would cross her way to her own bag and open it up, pulling out a rectangular leather satchel. “I also brought Triple Triad cards as well. If you aren’t familiar I can always teach you! But if card games aren’t your speed that’s fine too. Though there won’t be much for stakes, since most coin for these games are often bet with the currency from Gold Saucer…” she trailed off and cleared her throat. “…Want to go on deck soon? Watch Limsa Lominsa start to shrink away on the horizon?”
G’raha nodded his head in agreement. He only knew Alphinaud for a fraction of the time that Angelique knew him, but he was quite the stand-up lad. An intelligent young Elezen with quite an ear for politics. “Well, I suppose we will have plenty of time to pass on this voyage. I am certain that we will have more than a few opportunities to share ideas.” He rested an elbow in one hand and held his chin with the other. He raised an eyebrow at her comment. He wasn’t a stranger to fraternizing with others, but drinking wasn’t something he did often. He liked to keep his head clear.
His tail flicked at the thought of her tugging at it in the middle of the night. It wasn’t the only image that crossed his mind, but he quickly dismissed it. Now wasn’t the time, and this wasn’t the place for those kinds of unsavory visions. He was quiet for a moment, trying to change his own train of thought to something a little more in the moment. His left ear kept flicking as though something had been tickling the fur every so slightly. When she moved away from the chair, was when his focus had switched from the inside of his mind to her actions.
“Ah, Triple Triad!” He excitedly exclaimed. “I tried my best to create a similar game in the First with Lyna and the guards of the Crystarium, but it never stuck. It seems it had been quite some time since I clearly remembered the rules.” He pulled the chair up behind him and leaned his elbows on his knees. “Why don’t we play for something a little more high stakes? Start this little adventure off with something interesting?” He raised an eyebrow. The Allagan Son never claimed to be great at card games, but he certainly enjoyed the prospect of gambling, even if he had nothing to gain from it. His wolfishly large grin was a testament to that. He truly enjoyed the thrill of it more than the prize.
“Why not use stories and secrets as currency in our game?” He suggested, rubbing his hands together mischeviously.

candideangel:
Angelique was thoughtful as she would let her fingers trace slowly along the cover of the tome, thinking of her own creative work, and G’raha was rather very proud of his work. Which truly if an artisan didn’t like their work, could they be called one? “Hm?” she looked up a little when he seemed to snap back to it, “Oh the room. I see…” she trailed off looking thoughtful. “I’m really sorry that I overlooked this detail. But we can make this work, we usually do, right?” Come hell or high water, the pair often had to especially in their times of stress and other crises.
Though her eyes looked to the bedroll, lips forming a thin line. “Though I would really hate for you to end up on the floor. This trip is supposed to be fun, even being here on a boat…” Angelique lightly scratched the side of her neck resisting the urge to pick her nails which was the typical habit she had with nerves. “But if you’re comfortable with it we can put one of the larger pillow between us at night. And I’ll do my best to not toss and turn about.”
Hopefully this trip would relax her mind enough that the nightmares would fade for the moment. “But in the end, the feeling is mutual. Anything that can make you feel comfortable you just need to tell me. As for changes and privacy, we can take turns dressing with one of us outside and simply switch.” Reaching over she would lightly take hold of his wringing hands and gave him a small smile.
“This is going to be fun and it should be, so…let’s try to shake off those inhibitions, okay?”
“W-well, ahhh,” he flicked his ears nervously. “I suppose that arrangement would work. I am not opposed to sleeping on the floor, but if you’re comfortable with it than I see no problem here.” He smiled sheepishly. His brilliant red eyes darting across the room, cautiously avoiding eye contact in order to prevent his face from turning a lovely shade of red. When she had placed her hands on his, he could not prevent his face from changing colors.
“It’s an adventure, of course it will be fun.” He reassured himself, trying to distract both his own mind and hers from the ever growing temperature of his face. “Perhaps, if you’d like, I can show you how to bind your tomes with inlaid metal supports? We can share techniques, as I'm sure you’ve had experience in other crafts since I’ve been away.” G’raha smiled and pulled the chair out from underneath the desk. He sat down, resting his legs for a moment. Not that they needed resting, he just wasn’t sure what to do with himself being so close to her.
“Oh, considering our sleeping arrangements, I have been told that m-my tail tends to have a mind of it’s own when I am asleep. I wanted to warn you lest it gets me into some trouble in the night.” He chuckled at the mention of it. His mother used to tease him for it. Always catching him right in the middle of his tail flopping around like a dead fish in his sleep, or curling up around the nearest object. He wasn’t certain that anyone else would ever see such an embarrassing feature, but the coeurl is out of the bag now.
thenobleandsalacious:
She would purr as he rocked them gently in the amber glow, her heartbeat strong and vibrant as she heard his solemn oath. “ ‘Raha… my skin burns with every touch you give me…” She breathed, before his kiss stole her breath, and his nibble eliciting a soft moan.
However, it had been a long time since she had any kind of attention physically, and so upon his teasing gesture upon her lips, her body shook and her face flushed. “Mm.. forgive me, it’s… it’s been so long.” She explained with strained breath. “W-What else did you have planned my love?”
He had not expected her to react so desperately as this to his touch. It warmed his heart. It had been quite a long time for him too. Two lifetimes, in fact. He gave her a gentle squeeze in his arms. He could feel the sweat forming on his palms as nervousness took over. The reality of his pose at the stairs, when he had gotten down on one knee had already given away his intention, at least so he thought. He could not allow his emotions to betray his plans, so he pulled her in tight for an embrace once more.
“I have waited a lifetime to see you again.” His words almost broke as he spoke them. “I never again wish for you to experience the uncertainty of it in the future.” He whispered in her ear. “I have a room for us here, to give us more time to get reacquainted. “ He felt a chill run up his spine. His own body was filled with desperation and desire. G’raha could barely wait any longer.

It was honestly absurd how much that feral dominance in G’raha was turning him on. Everything from the strength in that slender frame, the desire burning in deep red eyes to the growls and dark words given to him. The redhead was right though, for as well as he might know G’raha, there was still much and more that he didn’t. He was definitely eager to learn though.
When his lover shifted down his body, Maru thought he was about to get something more than the teasing he’d received so far and then the tingle of magic began to fill the air and make the fine hairs at the back of his neck and along his spine stand on end.
It took only a moment for him to understand what had been done. His arms, despite not being pinned by G’raha, couldn’t be moved and he tested the strength of the spell, shifting and pulling on it, arousal flooding his system when it became clear that he was definitely bound.
“Oh shit…” he breathed softly, his breathing a little shallow, cheeks flushed as he peered up at the redhead, no longer the gentle, caring scion with a heart of gold but a trickster tapped into some darker, more primal part of himself and by all the gods, Maru was loving it, drinking in the sight of G’raha but unable to touch the path that his eyes followed down the redhead’s body.
His heart was starting to race in anticipation, his eyes widening a fraction on seeing those fangs and anticipating their sinking into his flesh, that edge of pain only going to drive him to greater heights of pleasure.
“Show me,” Maru whispered, shifting his lower body, seeking some kind of friction. “Make me beg for you,” he goaded, his cock already leaking a cloudy bead or two of precum. “I want to see what you can do.”
