Stay calm Devlin. His heart raced inside of his chest as he forced his youngest sister, Iana, behind him. The Templars had fallen upon them quickly and out of nowhere. Silently, he ran through strategies and different maneuvers that he would be able to pull off by himself. A feeling of hopelessness fell upon him, the odds were not in his favor today. One warrior & a frightened, young apostate against a seasoned group of Templars was not something Devlin was prepared for.
"It's okay Iana, I won't let them take you." His words were soft and comforting, and despite how much he doubted himself, they sounded sincere. He would die before he allowed the Templars to force his sister into the Circle. His hand gripped tightly around the handle of his shield and the hilt of his sword. Devlin took a deep, calming breath in and silently prayed to the Maker.

✈: For a goodbye letter from my muse to yours.
Rose,
I’ll be tucking this letter into your quiver for you to find later, because I know if you read it before the battle you’ll ruin everything by trying to stop me, and I can’t risk that. I’m sorry.
The truth is, I lied. I told you I talked Alistair into completing the ritual with Morrigan, but I didn’t. I couldn’t go through with it in the end. Something about it didn’t sit right with me and knowing that had been her intention all along when I’d come to trust her, it just… You know me. I’m a stubborn little arse and I couldn’t give her what she wanted after that.
Which is why I’m going to keep you as far away from the Archdemon as possible. I don’t know how. Maybe I’ll talk you into taking charge of guarding the gate or something. Whatever it takes, because I can’t risk losing you, and I can’t risk you stopping me if the times comes for a final blow to be struck and there’s no one else but me.
I’m not about to let Alistair take it––he’s the bloody king, for Andraste’s sake––and not you. Never you. If Riordan falls before the Archdemon is slain, it has to be me. There’s no other way now.
I’m so sorry, Rho. I’m sorry I lied to you and I’m sorry it’s come to this. After everything we’ve been through together, after everything we’ve survived…well, it wasn’t supposed to end this way, was it?
I love you, so much. Please don’t let this harden your heart as completely as it’s hardened mine. Please don’t lose yourself.
With all my love,Arri
