nora ofc i want to!!! you know i’m a luca x adam fan first, person second, but of your most recent writing, my fave is let your heart be your guide. i’m so into this regency!(human!)au!!! there is such restraint in your writing lottie and nat’s interactions, which is era-appropriate, but i love how nat still manages to fluster lottie:

“Will you not dance, Miss Sewell?”

Dark eyes meet hers, smile fully blossoming on curved lips. She can’t help but watch them as her friend speaks. “Are you asking, Miss Fitzwilliam?”

She feels herself redden, and the smile on Miss Sewell’s face grows wider. She leans close, and Lottie can feel the heat of the whisper on her skin. “Don’t tell me either way, I couldn’t bear to know if not.”

the way i SCREAMED when i read that, god you have such a grasp on nat’s character and voice, and her voice in the setting. the way you incorporate other characters too (tina, verda, bobby) is very fun and feels organic, which i think is a significant accomplishment in any non-canon setting tbh. ANYWAY i’m v excited to read more even though i know it’s going to get uhhh angsty for a bit rip <333

26. things you said in writing for Charles and Nat? :)

Thank you for the ask!  I’m setting this somewhere after Book 2.  No spoilers, but I decided that Charles had a cozy house within walking distance to work instead of an apartment.

Something crinkled when Nat went to put her hands into her coat pocket.  Brow furrowing, she fished out a little folded piece of paper, a smile blooming on her face when she realized that someone - and she had a good idea who - had slipped an intricately folded paper rose into her pocket without her noticing.  She held it delicately in her fingers, her smile turning from pleased surprise into something far more fonder, as she pictured Charles sitting at his desk at the police station and using the square post-it notes to craft something so sweet for her.  He had a large stack of those notes in glaringly bright neon colors, but he must have noticed how almost everyone - except Farah.  Farah adored them - winced when they hung around his desk, the color almost migraine inducing, because he had thoughtfully replaced them with a pack in softer pastel shades.  

She was in the middle of turning the pale lavender rose in her hand and wondering where he had picked up the skill when something on the flat bottom caught her eye.  

Check your inner pocket, Charles had written, signing the note with a C and a lopsided heart.  Frowning, Nat checked her opposite pocket, but finding nothing, she dipped her fingers into the small inner lining pocket, pulling out a key.  Charles hadn’t attached it to a keychain, but he had slipped a dark green key cover over the cap of it so it would stand out on her own small ring of keys.  She didn’t have many, just the key to her Agency-assigned locker that also opened her room there, a key to the Warehouse, and now this one.

Her finger ran over the simplified, raised house icon embossed on the plastic.  Home.  Holding both the key and the rose close to her chest, Nat readjusted her walking route, passing the police station and heading towards the historical district downtown.

Charles would be finishing his shift soon and heading out soon.  She thought it would be a fine idea to use her new key to be there in time to welcome him.
