Comments:
Jiang Cheng didn’t take his eyes off them as Wei WuXian ran his fingers through Lan WangJi’s hair and tugged on the tail of his ribbon. A long time ago, Lan WangJi had been enraged when Wei WuXian had done something similar. This time, he merely took Wei WuXian’s errant hand and kissed the back of it. The scene caused Jiang Cheng to break out into goosebumps, disgusted but unable to look away at the same time. The way they gazed at each other was clear: there was no room for anyone else with them.
...
And this was the bitter truth: Wei WuXian did not revolve around him anymore. Jiang Cheng had been his whole world before everything burnt to ashes and now that position belonged to someone else.
It was time to move on, even if it meant finally letting go of his once-brother and best friend.
Should he say I’m sorry? Thank you?
Snorting, Jiang Cheng decided on a third path and turned away from them to look for his nephew. Perhaps the best thing he could do was to leave them alone.
(Let them be happy, and maybe find some happiness of his own.)
This is a Jiang Cheng centric fic, reminiscent of that one scene in the novel where he follows Wangxian into the woods and, when he finds them, he doesn’t want to watch them but is unable to look away. It's an honestly beautiful and bittersweet read 💔
