So I explained about Abril's ghost to Joe all over again. I had told him only five minutes earlier but I understood his desire to hear it over and I added more details as I went like about the dreams so the tale was not tired. He seemed to take the fact that his older sister was haunting her old home lot fairly well I thought, and I told him as much. Just as the words were out of my lips one of the toddlers popped her toy in and out of existence.  "When you have to believe your children are capable of magic... ghosts are not so much of a stretch," Joe said with good humour, a smile twitching at the corners of his mouth. "Amina seems to have inherited the witch gene as well. Perhaps if René accepts his magic he can help us with his sister. I hope."

I waited as Joe put down one baby and picked up another before going into my pulled-out-of-my-ass spiel. "We're so sorry to just come here, I hope we haven't interrupted anything," I said. This part was true. The rest...? "We're friends of René's at school, we're in a club together. It's the ... Club Club. We try being different clubs one day a week, you know, to expand our interests... We're having a meeting today to discuss whether we are going to be a chess club tomorrow, or maybe a music club ... I am going to see if I can play the saxophone! Or if I should stick with the triangle..." "Well, René isn't here right now," Joe said. Seeing as we had just seen René at school I knew this already.
