[ayo idk i wanted to write some gay shit and all i could think of was asra and theo ( @bitters-enthusiast ) being soft and wholesome and here we are. i didn’t proofread this or edit it even slightly. good luck lol]
Sighing softly, Theo let his fingers run idly over the covers of the books scattered across the shelves in their room. His fingers scratched the leather delicately, enjoying the lingering feeling of Asra’s magic on each of the spines. He traced foreign titles and tugged at soft silk bookmarks as he looked for ways to occupy himself while he waited for his master’s return. His feet, bare on the wood, danced around the papers and scrolls dropped to the floor that neither had been bothered to pick up and organize. Occasionally, Theo would pick one up and skim through it, hoping to find where it was meant to be. But it was always another miscellaneous spell or letter that ended up being tossed back to the floor in a separate pile.
He hated when Asra left him alone like this. With nothing to do for days on end. Theo could only repeat the same menial tasks for so long. He huffed and crossed his arms, dropping back onto the bed. Pillows sunk around his head and a few loose items on the covers bounced off, clattering onto the ground quietly. Staring up at the ceiling was more entertaining than waiting. Probably. He could try, at the very least.
Staring and doing nothing gave him time to think, at the very least. About Asra. Which he… already did quite often. But there was no harm in thinking a bit more. Images of glossy white and bright lavender faded through his mind and he smiled involuntarily. Just the mere thought of Asra could make him blush. It was a wonder he’d never figured it out sooner; that he was so helplessly in love.
He was too distracted by his thoughts to even notice the shift in the aura around him, too busy daydreaming about soft lips to hear the thud of the door and the echoing steps up the stairs. It wasn’t until he caught the figure at the door that he finally realized.
“Asra-!”
Theo sat up quickly, watching Asra chuckle and set down his satchel. He opened his arms and Theo willingly ran into them, hugging him tight and laughing.
“You’re back! Finally! D’you forget about me or something?” The teasing tone in his voice was a warm welcome to Asra, who smiled and kissed his head.
“Never. I’m sorry it took so long, hon.”
Smiling wide, Theo giggled and shook his head. “I’m glad you’re home. It’s been so boring without you. You left just before Cecil did; I was completely alone and it’s your fault.”
Asra’s eyebrows raised slightly before lowering into a mischievous gaze. “Cecil left? Tragic. It’s not like you have other friends- “
“If you scold me about this again, I will absolutely never kiss you ever.”
Amused by the bold declaration, Asra leaned down slightly.
“Oh? Is that so?”
Panic lurched through Theo. He’d started a dangerous game. The glint in Asra’s eyes worried him and he tried to take a step back, but it was too late. Asra grabbed him by the waist and easily lifted him up, holding him close and practically assaulting his face with kisses. Theo, helpless to defend himself, could only gasp and sputter and blush as he tried to resist. It was useless. He’d already started melting in Asra’s arms, whining like a child and demanding to be put down. Or, at the very least, kissed properly. After a few more seconds of pecking Theo’s red cheeks, Asra seemed satisfied. He laughed and set Theo onto the bed, leaving another wet kiss onto his forehead. He walked back to grab the satchel and scoffed at the dramatic noise of disgust that Theo made.
As Asra set the satchel onto the desk, he heard Theo make an interested noise.
“Did you get me things?”
He chuckled. “Yes.”
There was a little pause. Asra didn’t need to look at Theo to know that his face was undoubtedly red and flushed, and probably buried into a pillow by this point.
“You… you didn’t have to get me anything.”
“I know.” Asra shrugged, holding the gifts, “I wanted to.”
He knelt in front of Theo to show him the things he’d collected. A bundle of fresh flowers first; the sweet scent of honey drifted around them and Theo gasped softly, taking the sweet alyssums and examining them carefully. Perfect condition and grown in his favorite color. The magic radiating from them made him beam and he kissed Asra quickly, too giddy to stay locked on his lips. As much as he would have liked to.
The next was inside a small woven sack, that Theo had to open himself. He caught sight of Asra’s loving gaze and flustered, looking back down quickly. The contents of the bag were herbs and a strong odor of licorice. It was obvious. He giggled, setting it aside carefully.
“How did you know I was running out?”
Asra teasingly put a finger to his lips.
“A magician never reveals his secrets.”
Raising an eyebrow, Theo leaned onto his knees. “Faust told you?”
“Faust told me.”
They laughed, Theo resting his head against Asra’s as melodic giggles fell from his lips. To Asra; more beautiful than any music in the world. He was sure nothing could ever top it. Aside from him.
Pushing less than wholesome thoughts aside, Asra held Theo’s cheeks and kissed him. They stayed that way for a few moments. Theo, needing stability and contact, placed his hands onto Asra’s shoulders. He pulled a little, tugging Asra closer, deepening the kiss they’d been waiting for. It had been quite some time since they’d been together. And despite the clear frustration and desire from both, it was a bit too early to break the bed.
Asra was the first to pull back, lips plump and red. He chuckled and, standing up, ruffled Theo’s hair with a hand.
“I’ll make you some tea, honey. How do you feel about getting baklava later?”
Theo beamed. “Like I’d ever say no to that.”
With a short laugh, Asra nodded.
“Tea for now.”
He began walking towards the door, feet navigating around the scattered objects in a much more natural way than Theo had been doing earlier. Theo watched him, positively enchanted by the way Asra moved. He called out softly.
“You know the way I like it?”
He heard Asra scoff in mock offense. “One salamander milk, two honey. I know.”
A smile laced his features.
“Hey Asra?”
The magician turned, eyes locking with Theo. For a moment, he forgot how to speak. His was simply smiling, feeling so lucky and blessed to have this miracle in his life. His throat clamped but he shook his head, a bashful smile on his face.
“I missed you.”
Asra looked stunned for a moment. Theo watched his features melt into a soft expression; something sincere mixed with a tinge of guilt. He had no reason to feel guilty. Not anymore. Not now that Theo could finally smother him in love the moment he got home – with no more secrets and no more hidden truths and feelings. Just them. Just love.
