[9/30/24 12:01 am] UNSENTflora: that sketch i did of you is one of my favorites i’ve ever done. a lot of the time, i feel like i use art as a way of shutting my brain off, so i don’t like…idk i think i forget to appreciate it bc i use it as a means to an end almost?? but all it takes is one person to remind me of why i did it, like i still can remember the look on your face when i showed you my sketch, and maybe i’m reading too much into it, like maybe you were thinking, “oh thank god, my nose doesn’t look like an eggplant” but it just…it felt like we connected?? and that’s what art is supposed to be about?? i dunno, i think about that when i’m feeling like shit, and it always makes me feel less alone, but you probably didn’t want to hear any of this so never fucking mind jesus christ flora do you ever stop talking
[10/15/24 03:55 pm] UNSENTflora: sometimes, i hear people say shit about you in the halls, and it’s just so? mean?? and i don’t understand why?? like you’re one of the few halfway decent people i’ve met in this hellhole, and i just don’t get why people are so cruel. i wish you didn’t have to deal with this shit, and i know that it’s easy for me to like…say that when it’s not happening to me, but i mean it. really. also if you ever want me to beat someone up, i’ve never been in a fight before, like a physical fight, and i kinda wanna know what it feels like to REALLY punch someone in the face, and i can’t think of a better reason to do it.

Sometimes he liked it in a way where he wanted to sit inside, snug and warm, watching it fall from the comfort of the castle. It wasn’t always something he noticed in the common room or dorm, down underground, tucked away from the elements, but he’d often found himself spending extra time in the library or in the astronomy tower just to hear the rainfall and watch mist settle on the grounds. Then there were times where the rain called to him, where he would drop everything to sprint out onto the grounds and let himself be soaked to the bone. He liked dancing in the rain, the constant cool it brought him, the way water splattered from his clothes and skin when he twisted and turned, kicked up from the ground when he moved his feet. Dancing with water made him feel more alive.
He wasn’t sure Theo agreed.
“Theo, don’t you want to dance with me?”
“Nein.” His friend’s voice was soft against the rain, the boy having taken a soft of shelter under a tree on the grounds while Han continued to skip and spin about in the rain, sliding and slipping all over the place but delighted by it either way. When his friend spoke up it was louder, “Let’s go in, Han, you’re soaking.”
“Only if you come dance! Just one little dance, for me?”
“Han!” Theo attempted to sound stern and Han laughed.
“Theo!” A mimic of his tone.
Han spun around a few more times, a few meters away from his friend, though eventually came to a stop when with what sounded like a huff Theo ducked out of his sheltered tree and half-jogged the space between them. Delighted, the moment the boy was in reach Han was taking hold of him, a wrist gently held in each hand, guiding them up until he was releasing Theo’s hands to rest on his shoulders and dropping his own to place them on Theo’s hips. A careful hold on each hip, Han made small adjustments until they were swaying, making a few steps and nudging Theo’s feet with his so they spun around just the once slowly. It wasn’t so bad, it was cold and the weather was terrible, the kind that made clothes quickly cling to skin, but under his fingertips and through the layers of clothes Theo was warm. Their breaths ghosted, leaving mist between them, Han hummed a little tune that he’d made up on the spot and he could’ve swore that despite the rain and the cold he caught Theo smiling a little- that soft, not quite there smile that Han liked so much.
“Not so bad, see?”
“It’s cold.”
“One more twirl? A big one!”
“Han, I don’t-”
But, of course, he was already spinning. Hands on Theo’s hips, he almost lifted the boy in an attempt to spin him quicker, smile bright although in mere seconds it faltered, feet slipping on the wet grass, what was a very brief momentary attempt at a graceful spin turned into chaos as Han’s feet slipped from under him, sending him backwards with Theo dragged with him, both boys yelping in surprise as they fell. Han hit the ground with a thud, leg’s at awkward angles and in an attempt to not drag his friend down with him he’d released his hips, hands dropped out to his sides instead. Theo was soon to follow, dropping down in a tangle of legs, arms still gripped onto Han’s shoulders. They fell in a few mere seconds, both thudding down together, and in their scramble to prevent their fall, just briefly they were mouth to mouth. Lips together, eyes wide and faces growing flustered for the mere few seconds that surprise caused them to linger. Theo moved first, hands pressing on hands chest to push himself up slightly, breath still ghosting as a mutter of an apology left him. Han just nodded, he wasn’t sure what to say, his stomach felt all fluttery and a deep pink was seeping out onto his hair. It was cold on the ground but Theo’s weight on him was warm, the boy’s heartbeat thudding against his, Theo looked nice in the rain. His hair was stuck to his forehead, his face flushed, but he looked pretty and Han only smiled as he lifted a hand to push strands from his friend’s forehead with the tips of his fingers.
“Dangsin-eun yeppeuda.” You look beautiful.
“Han?”
“Hm?”
“You’re going to be covered in mud.” His friend’s comment caused him to blink, the realisation quick to bring a huff from him. Theo smiled, soft again, and added, “Albern.”
“I don’t know that one.”
“Gut.”
After another second or two Theo was climbing off him, delicate in how he manoeuvred his way off him, careful not to kick, knee or elbow Han anywhere as he scrambled to his feet. He offered a hand, which Han took and used the leverage to push himself off the floor, getting to his feet with a slight groan. His body ached and he had no doubt mud and grass stained the back of his clothes. Still, with hair falling into his eyes- still pink- and Theo’s hand still in his it didn’t feel so bad. Except too soon his friend was dropping his hand and gesturing towards the castle, setting off and leaving Han stood there for a moment.
“Theo-”
Grabbing at the boy again, sliding his fingers between Theo’s to slot their hands together, he pulled his friend back around to face him and with a stride forward, ducked his head and caught Theo’s mouth with his. It was still cold, even Theo’s lips were cold and damp against his, droplets of rain seeping into the kiss, and with a shaky breath he dared to flick his tongue into Theo’s mouth. He earned a surprised sound, both boys somehow more flustered as Han pulled back, unable to help smiling bashfully. It was cold but Theo’s mouth was warm. Their joined hands too.
“Don’t say sorry next time. It was nice.”
And then they headed back to the castle, hand in hand, Han’s hair remaining pink for the rest of the day.
