I’m not even surprised by how horribly the esc participants are being treated because I remember how Theodor Andrei was treated last year.

He was 18, still in high school, and was constantly being threatened by his own delegation for daring to have opinions on his own performance. They forced him to finance everything himself, they gave him no support whatsoever.

The ebu did nothing about any of this. The ebu doesn’t care about these artists, they only care about money. Delegations get away with appalling behaviour all the time.

I’d rather eurovision be over entirely than have more artists suffer being treated like commodities and the property of their countries broadcaster.

Romania is getting a lot of hate this year, and I wanna say some things.

In terms of the song quality, Theodor Andrei is in his last year of whatever the Romanian equivalent of high school is, and not affiliated with a record label. He wrote the song himself and had it produced by a buddy of his, who (if I remember correctly is a couple years older and makes music semi-professionally). This was a 0 budget production, and it sounds like it. That said, there are some genuinely interesting things going on in both the lyrics and composition ("I'm Feeling Good" sample emulated on a keyboard not withstanding). There is a lot of talent here, but neither experience nor resources. A revamp that used real instruments or even just a higher quality emulator could have done a lot for the song, but Romania never revamps.

The national selection staging was also very clearly something he and his friends from the school drama club came up with. There were a lot of ideas, and not all of them were good. But it showed a lot of passion and creativity. It got people voting. But based on what we have seen from the rehearsals, the delegation said "we are not paying for transport for any props or dancers. We don't care that you are 18 and don't have the money to foot the bill yourself the way some previous acts have. Sucks to suck. Here's an ugly LED."

Like, I feel really bad for this kid. He really wanted to do Eurovision, and his delegation is doing him so dirty. I hope he gets to be more established and comes back sometime in like 15-20 years. Because there is good stuff here, he's just too young and too broke to make much out if it.

This years eurovision was GUTWRENCHING, but especially romania 🇷🇴

Their song, D.G.T (Off and On) by Theodor Andrei and its now one of my favourite songs of all time

Please, if you have a spare minute, please listen to it, because god its so good

But maybe dont watch the live version because the staging was.... well, awful

But the most frustrating part is that it had the potential to be SO GOOD! But TVR butchered his performance, Romania just doesnt care about eurovision and it really shows

So he had to do all the staging and set design by himself with help from a couple of his friends because his dancers had left him and he was broke.

And now hes been repaid with hate comments from allll around the world

This man was so excited for eurovision, on his youtube channel you can even see he did a medley of all the eurovision songs which is so sweet oh my god

It just sucks to see this man with so much potential get so much hate with something that should be one of the best memories of his life

Send him so love man, he deserves it

If you watched the semi-finals this year and thought "hmm, Romania's song sucks" or anything in that area, this post is for you (and if not! Keep reading anyway)

So if you watched the live show after listening to the song you probably thought "what happened?"

If you're unaware, this year Romania picked artist Theodor Andrei to represent them in the Eurovision Song Contest. However, after being chosen Theodor was completely abandoned by the TVR — the national Romanian television program — and had very little budget and work time.
