They hadn't necessarily left things in a good place when they had left Touchback, but Jason had to admit that he was feeling better about things with Theodore than he had at all since arriving to Merrock. There was a little bit of understanding there, between the two of them, that Theo was hurt, that Jason had his reasons, and he was confident that rather than continuing to circle each other with eye rolls and huffs, they could come to some sort of friendship -- the kind that only brothers could really have. And so when Theodore had asked about meeting up at Creek Fest, Jason hadn't hesitated to agree to the idea, showing up a little early to the market place center, sitting on a nearby bench to wait. He had dressed casually, but nice, in jeans and a navy blue button-down, unsure of his niece and nephew and sister-in-law would be there, or just his brother, or who else he might end up running into, but he didn't have to work that afternoon, and so he felt nice wearing something other than khakis and henleys. For once. He brought his coffee cup to his lips, taking a sip of the hot liquid, and stretched his arm out along the back of the bench to wait.

For @dcvth​ “How many tomatoes do we put in the chili again?” Something like 4, 5, or 6. He was in favor of putting as many as possible, but spontaneity in cooking could lead to a disaster, and this was supposed to be a nice evening with Theo. He was preparing the spices while his husband took out the copybook where they kept their handwritten recipes. Some came from his side of the family, others from Theo’s, and for the most part, Luis didn’t ever look into that copybook. Years of cooking those recipes would do this to anyone, he supposed. “Oh, I ran in our former banker at the farmer’s market earlier. She was huge. They’re expecting twins with her husband,” he didn’t want the conversation to turn sour, and this wasn’t one of his many attempts to make Theo change his mind on that issue. He just felt like they should celebrate people’s happiness. “It’s a shame she moved onto trading, I really liked her.”

This had been the second time the lap dog found himself searching for the healer, yet this time felt more important, more urgent; as he weaved in and out of the bearorian castle halls. He still didn’t know the floor plan of this place very well, as the castle wasn’t his home and yet a castle was a castle and he’d managed to find himself knocking on a room he’d been told Theodore was staying in. Aurelius didn’t have many friends (although becoming his friend was an easy thing to be fair), he didn’t have really much of anyone in his life (beyond the royal family he tended to) that he allowed himself to actively worry over, yet the healer had almost instantly became one of those rare people that the lap dog allowed into his life without much protest. As he awaits for the door to open he finds himself perhaps wishing he’d found the younger man earlier when everyone first showed up, mostly so he could have seen him with his own eyes sooner; finding it hard to believe that he was even still alive. That one so seemingly soft as Theodore could have persisted when Ironhaven attacked. Aurelius had been busy of course, he hadn’t lied to the healer when he told him he pushed himself into his work, all the same he just wanted to push himself into settling his mind now and could no longer wait.  When the door creaks open he can’t help but look downwards to the shorter man, as if he’s looking at a ghost he half wasn’t expecting to see. He gives way to the loudest of relieved sighs, his tired eyes squint slightly when he allows a bright smiles to creep upon his lips.  “I...I prayed you survived, you...got my letter I hope?” It’s a sentence uttered out that sounds to be a mixture of both happiness and sadness all intertwined, he isn’t sure what he feels, but he does know he indeed feels something as his heart continues to pound in his chest, he had just been so worried; that much he is aware of. “I, um know I didn’t sign it but... it wasn’t safe to, may...may I come in?”
