Ayyy fellow enben nice!! A lovely ask, dropped gently on your doorstep.
Your question is: Does your character fear death? How hard are they trying to avoid it? Are they scared of those they love dying?
What traits does your character like in a person? What traits do they despise? Do they have either of those traits themselves?
Thank you! I'll answer these for Aeldwin and Theodore. ♥️
Does your character fear death? How hard are they trying to avoid it? Are they scared of those they love dying?
Aeldwin — To him, death is not something to be feared as it is a natural consequence of life. His concern lies more with how he will die, but death itself does not frighten him; he will go peacefully whenever it decides to come calling. He actually sort of yearns for the respite it would bring to him as unfortunately he has not found much rest within his life. Due to his inherited curse of foresight, he does not feel fear over the fates of his loved ones, rather responsibility and guilt.
Theodore — (origin life) He had once come to fear death following the loss of both his parents and his own near death experience. However, certain experiences later on in his life leave him feeling rather numb to the idea entirely. (second life) Like Aeldwin, it was less a fear of death itself and more how he would die. But once his past memories start returning to him, his attitude noticeably changes: he becomes much more careless with his own life, placing himself in harm's way more often than is necessary at times. He exhibits deep concerns over his loved ones dying.
What traits does your character like in a person? What traits do they despise? Do they have either of those traits themselves?
Aeldwin — He respects those who are inclined to speak their truth even if they stand alone, for it is a far easier thing to quietly submit to a majority than it is to raise one's voice against it. He also appreciates those who chose to be honest even if it comes at their own detriment, as it shows a willingness to acknowledge one's faults and/or take responsibility for actions taken. Aeldwin himself displays great integrity and is quite receptive to the thoughts and feelings of others. He is open to compromising and does not use his seniority in age and rank to domineer others in conversation or when it comes to making any final decisions.
Theodore — He was once astonished by other people's bravery for the "true heroism" it displayed, but it has since become a respect born from understanding. As a child, he was under the impression that in order to be brave, one had to be without fear. It wasn't until after his first kill when his mentor taught him the truth of it: bravery is not a lack of fear, but rather a commitment to carry on in spite of one's fears. He still grapples with the thought that he must be some kind of fraud for the way his hands shake, so anyone able to keep a steadier hand than him does not go unnoticed. He does not like people who are unwilling to aid those that are weaker than them, nor does he like people who choose to wield their power over others.
