of lands lost

headcanon that before the current land of empires (which were NOT destroyed in any sort of rapture this time around), there used to be a group of empires that were similar, but not quite the same.

these empires were founded before hermitcraft, before the rise of the watchers. they were as old as time itself, crafted by the gods of the land. in a way, these empires still live on in the new ones, the ones built from their ruins.

but what happened to them? they had stood for millennia, what brought them down in the end?

they were destroyed in the rapture. in this story, it was not scott and xornoth that brought about the end of old rivendell, but alinar and cohnal instead. it was not jimmy and fwhip that tore apart the rest of the empires, but a war that had only come from a rivalry.

things were harder and crueler in the old empires. while it had been enough for a long time, it wasn't enough in the end. the old empires fell one by one, their gods erased and forgotten.

until now.

now, a travelling inventor called fwhip stumbles upon the ruins, and soon the last descendant of the ocean queen flees to these lands too. when, far away, the games are brought to a deadly end, the empires reawaken.

scott smajor is born as the younger brother to xornoth, the alinar to cohnal. jimmy emerges out of the sea with no memory. one by one, the empires are re-established.

we can only see how long it takes these ones to fall.

Culture in Rivendell

There is a high emphasis on purity of bloodline in Rivendell high society. While the practice of interbreeding has long been abandoned, the idea of marrying or even courting someone who is not considered noble is a massive scandal and treated with the same level of scorn as sacrilege

Despite this, Scott insists on appointing common people as his advisors as well as courting the ruler of the Cod Empire

Many of the ruling class believe that they are part of Aeor’s chosen, and as such are destined to rule. The Lords and Ladies of Rivendell are the greatest of Aeor’s chosen

The Rivendellian rulers are referred to as either Lord or Lady, while the rest of the ruling class is referred to as High Noble

Despite the fact that they live in the barren mountains, or perhaps because of it, plants play a large role in Rivendellian culture. Rivendellian mint burns very hot and is known for trapping heat. Plus it grows everywhere. Because of this, Rivendellian mint is a primary fuel source as well as a key ingredient in many teas and soups

Any fruit from a tree represents strength and devotion, as they are very hard to grow in the harsh winter climate. They are often part of Rivendellian courtship, especially among the ruling class. Lemons are used for proposals, as the bright yellow fruit is incredibly rare and represents commitment and a once-in-a-lifetime chance

Poppies are banned and considered taboo, as they are believed to spring from Exor’s footsteps

The majority of Rivendell’s food is imported. They have a small farmland, but it is not nearly enough to feed the entire empire. They believe they can maintain their trade lines because they are rich enough and powerful enough to keep enemies away. However it would only take a single blockade to ruin the empire

Gold is very common to see in Rivendell, and most households have a small Aeor statue made out of the metal

A pair of stag horns is stamped into Rivendellian coins as well as a pair of owl eyes

Rivendell celebrates both Halloween and Christmas as well as another holiday in the spring: Alinar’s Conquest

Alinar’s Conquest is celebrated with a festival, featuring Divinity in the morning, dramatic reenactments of the great duel between Alinar and Connal in the afternoon and a feast in the evening

I reread The Clash of the Great Stags on the empires wiki and i just wanna put down a few of my thoughts:

I don't think Alinar actually died, I think when Aeor wiped his memory he woke up as Scott (Alinar had probably been grieving for at least a few years before this happened)

Same with Xornoth being Connell, er- what's left of him after the corruption took over at least

Connell's corruption happened similar to how Sausage's did, but he didn't have that backup plan Sausage did, so it resulted in his perma-death with the corruption taking full control of his body (maybe there's still a fragment of him in there somewhere for all ya'll who want a Xornoth redemption arc~)

The brothers are Archfey, I've theorized this for awhile now but its relevant so I'm putting it here (the way both Xornoth and Scott's powers spread are very similar to that of an Archfey plus this clip just screams Archfey to me)

this means both the brothers are tall (Xornoth is the tallest on the server, with his horns making him just ever so slightly taller then Scott)

it also makes this clip where Scott calls shrub cute 100x better

this also means that the brothers are immortal (as in they cannot die from old age. They can still die if they get badly hurt)

Alinar and Connell were good brothers before the whole corruption thing

I don't remember if this is cannon or not but they're twins

part of the story says "After making his way down the caves, he found his brother surrounded by the remains of the missing people and strange symbols on the walls and the floor. Alinar no longer could see his brother but just the monster that he had become" and Scott says to Xornoth during their fight "If it wasn't for you mom and dad would still be here!" did 2 of those missing people just so happen to be the boys' parents? or was that a separate incident?~

Oh! and on a semi-unrelated note: happy birthday Scott! <3 <3 <3

The prophecy of Connal & Alinar's reincarnations can happen to ANY elves, not just royals. Usually, it manifests in twins (male, female, or fraternal) but on rare occasions two completely unrelated elves.
