LIZZY AND THEO 2.03, Get Her Out
'You know, I spent forever believing I needed a woman who didn't know who I was, when what I really needed was a woman who knows exactly who I am. [...] I think it's the only real thing I've felt my entire life. Lizzy... Everything until you has been pretending. I feel released. I love you.'
The Buccaneers (2x05 - A Whole Love)
#absolutely unhinged behaviour
I’ve seen so much criticism on Theo & Lizzy claiming that she’s second choice or that they are giving “girl is more into guy” but I want to talk about why this set up is so important.
When Theo calls Lizzy sensational and points out that she deserves more than just settling for a comfortable life, he’s not doing that to win Lizzy the over or really to get anything out of it. In that moment he’s speaking from personal experience because in season one he said point blank that he did not want to fight for anyone who didn’t want him. He did not want to settle for a perfectly respectable match. He wants love. And now his relationship with Nan has blown up in his face and he sees that he is going to be stuck in a perfectly acceptable match that is loveless.
Meanwhile you have Lizzy who is doing what she was sent there to do which is find a perfectly acceptable match. Hector is nice but there is no attraction there. Yes she is happy in that moment until Theo awakens something in her. I know a lot of people aren’t fans of when the girl falls first, but I think in this situation it’s really important that Lizzy is falling for Theo in a space where he’s not trying to be anything to her. She just sees him for who he is and what he makes her feel not what his title or power can get her.
I do think Theo is going to fall harder I think we just need to give him the space to do that considering in this episode he found out that he was literally conspired against by his mother and his wife. I get people not liking that he wanted to go after Nan but Theo would not be the character he is if he didn’t try work things out with Nan after finding out his mother’s part in his marriage
