Awaking with a start, Gideon let himself lay completely still in bed for a few moments. Enough time for his heart to stop racing, his breathing to return to normal. Not, however, enough time to erase the images from his dream from his mind. Another doctor, another laser, another test. Though he had been in Purgatory for years, some nights he just couldn't shake the memories from before.
With a new environment came new dreams, but they seemed to hold the same theme. He would never get used to the long, narrow hallways and the pristine lab tables, as much as he would try. Now, however, he at least had a little freedom. He could wander the ship to clear his mind, find something in the lab to fiddle with until his mind was calmer. And so, after a few moments of lying in bed, he pushed himself up and let his feet carry him to what he hoped would make him feel minutely better.
He barely looked at the clock before leaving, but he knew it was late. So, he wasn't expecting to run into anyone. The lights came on as he entered the room, sensing movement automatically. He headed to his small section of the room; he didn't need much, and he knew the others seemed to have found a rhythm long before he joined the crew. It took him a few moments to realize that he wasn't alone.
Theon was slumped over on the table, obviously asleep. Somewhat curious, Gideon left the few scraps of metal he had picked up, save for a few nuts and bolts slipped into a pocket, and headed towards the man cautiously. It seemed as if he wasn't going to wake up easily, so Gideon pulled a chair to the other side of the table and sat himself across from the man. Watching his shoulders rise and fall for a few breaths, he finally worked up the nerve to poke his arm. “Theon?” he said, his voice still low. “I know these beds aren't comfortable, but fuck. They're better than Purgatory,” he said, a smirk on his lips as the man across from him started to wake up. He had questions, of course, but they could wait until he was alert enough to answer.
