It's Just a Little Ghost

There are certain benefits and drawbacks which he was growing to accept with being a Jinchūriki – even if Shukaku still refused to make it easy on him. He could not blame him for that, they always tried and pushed one another since Gaara learned to stand his own against him. Their clashes were not as immense as they had once been, especially when Gaara pulled that trump card of his. That is to say, reminding Shukaku of Kurama. It did wonders. The love-hate relationship those two had amused him, rightfully so. Nevertheless it was the growing understanding of Shukaku’s advantages which led them to being assigned their current mission.

Korobi and Yaoki were silently talking to one another as the team made their way to the Land of Earth. While they were still rather fearful of him, they at least tried to include him in the small conversations they were giving. With what the mission was to entail, Gaara was attempting at keeping his focus. It was not often he liked to admit his ability to communicate with ikiryō, but if the client’s village was infested with them – which Gaara actually doubted – he would have to, certainly. Neither of his teammates were too happy about the idea of being around spirits. This lead to Gaara nearly insisting they keep an eye out around the rest of the village while Gaara investigated the house in question.

The village was a small one, and Gaara knew that it was only going to be a matter of time before people either decided this whole thing was all in their heads and they could move on, or hysteria would break through. Cowards, really. Gaara was rather jaded about spirits being around the world, and if any were able to manifest themselves to be seen by the naked eye there would have to be reason. The idea of a place being ‘haunted’ for some idiotic reason like that which had been given to the Elders. Gaara silently counted it up to them simply wanting him out of the village, despite his slow rise in rank.

Gaara gave a small shake of his head as he began to go down the street, leaving Korobi and Yaoki doing whatever the Chunins thought necessary. The teen could only walk for another block before another’s chakra caught his attention. Not a spirit by any means, but still someone Gaara would have thought would be elsewhere, given the word of his extensive training with one of the Legendary Sannin. Curiosity got the best of him and with pause to adjust his gourd strap of his vest he attempted to pin point where it was coming from. If he was around Jiraiya, all Gaara had to do was wait for the sound of appalled women.
