media release: K-Pop Icons Apink Command the Stage in Kuala Lumpur for 15th Anniversary Tour
South Korean pop legends Apink successfully concluded the Kuala Lumpur leg of their 8th concert series, [The Origin: APINK], at Mega Star Arena. Celebrating 15 years as a premier force in the K-pop industry, the group delivered a high-octane performance to a capacity crowd of passionate Malaysian Pandas.
The concert, marking their first return to Malaysian shores in eight years, showcased the group's enduring vocal prowess and stage presence. The evening kicked off with a wave of nostalgia as Chorong, Bomi, Eunji, Namjoo, and Hayoung performed their iconic "pure-concept" hits. The arena transformed into a sea of pink during renditions of "NoNoNo," "BUBIBU," and "MY MY," proving these tracks remain definitive anthems of the K-pop genre.
However, the highlight of the night was Apink’s dramatic transformation into their alter-ego, "A-Green." Shedding their soft image for a sophisticated, "girl-crush" aesthetic, the group stunned fans with a charismatic cover of TVXQ’s "Mirotic." The setlist further emphasized this evolution with powerful performances of "Fizzy Soda" and the sleek, synth-driven "I’m So Sick."
Following this high-intensity segment, Apnik transitioned back into their signature melodic style with a string of mega-hits. The crowd hyped for the melancholic yet rhythmic "LUV" and the sugary-sweet "Mr. Chu," before the members treated fans to a performance of their latest track, "Love Me More," bridging the gap between their storied past and their vibrant present.
Apink’s connection with the local crowd reached new heights as they showcased their impressive command of Bahasa Melayu. The members frequently interacted with fans using phrases like "Janji", "Jerit", and "Hebat”, drawing cheers for their effort to embrace Malaysian culture.
The emotional peak of the night occurred during the encore, following a surprise tribute video prepared by the Malaysian fanbase. The video, which included 15 years of shared memories, moved the members to tears. Member Eunji was particularly overcome with emotion, weeping openly as she thanked the fans for their unwavering loyalty and for waiting eight long years for their return.
As the night concluded, Apink reiterated their commitment to their fans, promising a swift return to Malaysia. The tour is set to conclude with a final stop in Manila, further cementing Apink’s status as "Second-Generation" legends who continue to thrive in the modern K-pop landscape. The group performed "Up To The Sky" as the final song to officially end the night on a high note.
