sometimes i see how people seem to interpret Ghost giving delicate flowers as something they do just to be nice, (with all of the admittedly very cute fanwork giving them to everyone) but somehow i don’t think that’s quite right.
Not to say that the act is without kindness! but i feel that we need to consider the context surrounding who Ghost chooses to gift those flowers upon, because that isn’t something that the player gets to decide beyond the journeying act of delivery.
And personally I believe that the Grey Mourner being the one to introduce them to the delicate flowers in the first place impacts Ghost’s interpretation of the meaning behind them. We do not know if Ze’mer had a different message and intention with the flower towards her lover, but considering the title of ‘Grey Mourner’ Ghost has given her, they’ve clearly associated her with grief, and the same has probably been extended to her flowers.
Though of course, everyone in the kingdom has obviously suffered grief, i think that the delicate flower npc options reflect the possibility of them being a symbol of regret. Given to the ones that carry the most of it.
Godseeker, who has lost her own home so long ago, who’s felt abandoned by her own gods and is desperately seeking for others. Eternal Emilitia who is the last of her caste remaining in the ruins of a once grand city, giggling maniacally as she tries to convince herself that she is entirely fine with that reality. The White Lady, alone, locked and self-bound in some poor attempt at repenting herself from her sins, possibly unaware of how much she has lost already.
Nailmaster Oro, just as isolated as his brothers, but with nothing else to his name, so focused on his past mistakes and with no one else to open himself to. Elderbug who stood as the kingdom fell, and unable to stop anyone from going towards their own doom again and again, surrounded by an empty town and a cold graveyard.
Truly, I don’t think Ghost giving the flowers to someone necessarily means they like them, but rather that they feel pity and sympathy for them. The ones that hardly have anything left to cling onto for hope.
