Xeni Jardin of BoingBoing.net interviewed Tim Pool of TheOther99 Wednesday, Nov 2, 2011. The article entitled "The dronecam revolution will be webcast: Interview with Tim Pool of 'The Other 99'" publicized the not very well kept secret that Tim, Henry James Ferry and crew are serious about developing the first "drone-cam" for streaming coverage.

However, the interview goes on to illuminate for those who do not watch the USTREAM live casts, a little more about Tim. Hints at his background and philosophy are a sub-plot throughout. I have a slight confession to make. I may have spent quite a few hours of my life watching news. Not The News, in an old school television sort of way, Internet News.

My current obsession is Occupy, and I spent most of the last week watching Tim Pool and The Other 99's media channel livestream the events at Occupy Wall Street. Their on the ground, almost constant coverage became the go-to source for events as they happened, used by the BBC, A Jazera English and other mainstream outlets throughout the week.

The most impressive feat, a 20 hour livestream marathon filmed and reported by Tim himself became a rallying point for hundreds of thousands of viewers. They even bought him a new battery so he could continue to bring us the news. The best part? He's 'just the tech guy' and never really meant to turn reporter...

I found this interview with him from the Majority Report on Sam Seder's YouTube channel.
