Changes in the rainbow quarter: the buildings where #Club80 has operated for >20 years have just been sold, for a reported ~$8m, to be converted into office space(?! - surely not financially viable, so presumably it’s a way of parking/laundering foreign money). Club 80, a fetish-oriented male sex-on-premises venue, was established by Bill Saunders along with gay dance bar #ThePeel and #TheLaird, a friendly leather-oriented pub. In 2008 it was sold: “The new owner is said to be ‘a well-known Melbourne architect’ who admires the architecture of the building.” Apparently the club has quite a bit of lease remaining but it won’t be renewed… (at CLUB80) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4braz_HK2H/?igshid=vbrme7c51n2g

#Sircuit dancefloor. I didn’t go to #ThePeel after like the others as 1. I was tired; 2. The music was already good & I didn’t want to downgrade, and 3. I didn’t want to carry my passport. They’ve refused me entry 3 times in the past so I’ve given up going. The whole thing’s utterly stupid - with no privacy policy/info security why let them photograph you & copy your ID?… (at Sircuit)
