Well, he was born blind, which was totally okay to everyone but his mother. She tried every way medically possible to get him to see, but nothing worked. 

Finally, as a last resort, she stole a witch’s eyes and gave them to him. So now he can see!

But he sees things that aren’t there. And doesn’t see things that are there. And sees different things than everyone else sees. 

So now he’s trying to find the witch so he can return her eyes and hopefully get back to normal.

And then he and Tulip fight off a giant spider that had crawled up onto her while she was listening to the story.
