INTRODUCING... Miss Mad-eye Moody!!! Named after Alastor Moody, of course! Moody was dropped off at the same place as Phoenix, Fox, Wonder, Ellen, and Rowling in the middle of March. She was dealing with a pretty knarly infection with her eye, and eventually, she lost it. The lovely @nuggetiels bonded with her, and helped her come past her defensive behaviour. Now, Moody is a friendly, curious hog who constantly runs around. I named her Moody when she was dropped off 😂 Now that she’s been introduced, please keep her in your thoughts. Tonight, when I checked on her cute starfished self, I found that she went after the other eye. It doesn’t look good. We are cleaning with saline, and antibiotic drops starting tomorrow. Moody is the perfect start to #ThePhoenixProject 💗 I will do everything in my power to give her a great life, even if she is missing both her eyes. #MissMadEyeMoodyHog Moody is by no means a replacement to Phoenix. I still love and miss him dearly. I always will. But his memory inspired me to do more. Coincidentally, this girl was still at the location, even after two and a half months. I’ve known about her this entire time, but had never met her (even after multiple attempts). I met her tonight and fell in love. Gah! When you are looking for a hedgehog, look for a rescue. Or adopt the grumpiest one. You’ll never know how love and kindness can affect a hog. It can make a big impact. Phoenix was known as my grumpy old man. He disliked being touched, disliked when we entered the bedroom, etc. He was by far the hardest of my array to deal with. While this is the case, he still knew love. He found comfort in my warmth. He found comfort in my touch. Phoenix passed away to the heat from my chest, the loving touch of my hand, and the sound of my heartbeat. We struggled for ten months. Our bond was never an easy one, but it was there. So go out. Adopt the grumpiest hog, or the one who needs a home the most. They may not be your whole world, but you are theirs. I am calling this #ThePhoenixProject. Tag me in your posts of your rescues hogs, with their stories. Tell me about that grumpy hog who is so difficult, but you know you love. I’ll share it in my story. They deserve love, too. The hardest ones need it the most. Rest In Peace, my dear boy. You inspired many. You are so missed. I miss that grumpy “huff huff”, and the toothless bites.
