I don't want to seem rude or invasive or anything, but I'm wondering why you don't like BBC sherlock? Is it because of the way a lot of the fans treat Elementary? Or some other reason? I mean, feel free not to reply, I was just curious
//No, not rude at all! It’s a valid question to come after all of the previous questions. I’m just very aware that my opinions aren’t widely accepted and, yes, I have encountered some very rude BBC Sherlock fans. But that’s not why I don’t like the show. No, I try to keep my opinions as separate from fandom as I can, to judge a show based solely on the show. And, honestly, I don’t like this show. Don’t get me wrong, it’s well acted and well executed. But it’s not… hm. They, the creators, claim that it’s a modern interpretation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. And it is… for the first few episodes. But it’s gotten… murky over the series. Now when I watch it I don’t see Sherlock Holmes. Benedict’s portrayal (and it’s not Benedict’s fault, it really comes down to writing and directing) is not the Sherlock Holmes I fell in love with when I read the books way back when. Frankly, I find BBC!Holmes to be a complete jackass. Sherlock Holmes — the original — is an altruist. He uses his mind to help people for the sake of helping them and for the sake of committing his mind to the greater good — no matter how capable a criminal he would be. He helps and he doesn’t look for credit. He legitimately hates crime. He finds murder tragic. Fascinating, yes, and he finds the mystery of a murder enticing, the chance to use his intellect to solve a murder or another crime and therefore help people overly appealing, but he doesn’t get off on it, he doesn’t seek out a murder to solve for credit or money or to satisfy his own interests. He’s an altruist. Is he sometimes an ass? Yes, because his intellect is beyond that of those around him. He doesn’t relate to others as he should (which is one for the Is Sherlock Holmes autistic? debate, but I digress). In fact, I think Sherlock Holmes looks up to those around him. Watson and Lestrade and his other colleagues. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes is an altruist. He can’t relate to people, but he wants to do everything he can to better them. And, in my opinion, BBC Sherlock doesn’t capture that. Elementary does.

Name: Jehan Prouvaire Age: 17 Gender: androgynous male Preferred district: 4 Occupation: Poet/pastry chef Face claim: Luke Newberry but you already know that Personality traits (a few of the most prominent): Poetic as fuck, friendliest person Skill set: great baker, long range weapons Preferred weapons: bow & arrows, throwing knives Weaknesses: hand to hand combat, cooking actual food Writing sample (can be from a thread): The facts are these: Jehan was the only openly non-heterosexual kid at school. Flash liked to bully him for it. He was also aware of all the other people that were bullied too. But he'd had a feeling about today. Knew that something was going to happen. What, though, was a mystery. So when he's got a group of students around him and some kid's going "Leave him alone, Eugene!", well, Jehan's going to take that chance. Later, he's sitting alone at a lunch table, trembling ever so slightly. Any extra information you feel is relevant: uh, he's got a pair of short-range glasses and always tries to carry a pencil and something to write on. Also, he has social anxiety.
"There will be a rather large group of visitors coming for dinner tomorrow. I hope your love for baking will satisfy them for dessert."
⊰ ♖ ⊱ you look like maybe you've lost your way somehow. do you know that you're leaning inconspicuously on the bar that dozens of celebrities have leaned on conspicuously in the past ? how exciting. for you.

"I —... I still don't get it, man." He's gonna blame Ned, instead of accounting for his own stupidity.
