Somehow I’ve lost friends. The most bizarre thing is for reasons unknown. One day, you think everything is normal, and then poof, certain people just disappear from your life without warning, without reason. 

The worst part is coming across memories. Still frames that captured a moment in time, reminding you of what once was but, is no longer. Reminding you that sometimes, it is the memories that we cherish more so than the person themselves.

Friends don’t last forever, only the good ones stick around. And if we didn’t lose certain people in our lives, we wouldn’t have enough time in the world to spend it with those who matter most.

#fathersday weekend hike with 5 of my 6 kids in #thepnw #pnw #bc #goldenears As I get older, I'm a Grandpa now, I think of the men who have shaped me and made me who I am. My life didn't start out the greatest. My mom found herself divorced with 2 young boys, but God blessed her to marry Mark Fletcher who later adopted my brother and I making us his boys. He taught us how to work hard, how to lift with our legs and not our backs (not sure I listened) and he took us on camping and backpacking adventures. He even surfed with us, although he enjoyed getting abalone more. His Dad, now passed, helped mold as well. He taught us how to cuss and pray. My Grandpa Ted (Moms dad) taught us to respect the office even if we don't respect the officer, to serve our country even if not in uniform and he showed us how sailors cuss! Haha When I got older, my last time with my Grandpa Huen (he adopted my bio-dads siblings) asked if he saw him again would I like to say, I replied, "Tell him thank you." Grandpa Charles (my middle name is after him) said, "yes, thank you would be good. You've certainly been blessed with a great Dad." There are other men that helped mold me as well, and also women and children. My wife made me respectable and my kids made me be less selfish and give more. Pastors and others molded my heart and Piper, my Granddaughter, made me fall in love again.
