The day is almost over but I admit that I have been having some feelings. I remember a year ago today, scrolling through this very site, hoping to see some of the latest Acolyte news. Boy oh boy, did I find it. I saw a post about the Acolyte being cancelled. It’s not the first time a show I liked had been cancelled. Far from it. But this was the first time a cancellation affected me so, so much. I cried and that is not hyperbole. Mostly it’s because this is the show that made me fall in love with Star Wars all over again. I really enjoyed the story for its fresh, even daring ideas. Taking place 100 years before the Skywalker saga was one of the show’s greatest strengths as the show wasn’t just a nostalgia montage. And I finally, finally had a new ship in Oshamir. And that ship was written with the Reylo ship in mind. No longer was I consuming Star Wars in NPC mode. I had been that way since the disappointment that was TROS. I really don’t know if I will ever consume SW content ever again. I just don’t want to anymore. Still, I’m glad I participated in the campaign to bring the show back (I’m still involved with that). It allowed me to participate in email campaigns where I said a little more of what is in my heart a little more. The effort was worth it.
