Briar Rose stared at the large flakes of snow falling past her window, tapping her fingers against the windowsill impatiently.
In this kind of weather, she would usually be outside to ensure the safety of her animal friends.T h i s time, however, her aunts forbid her from leaving the house altogether.
If possible, her aunts had become even more protective as she had grown older, and this was one of the many frustrating examples of their needless overprotectiveness.
It was growing quite late now, however, and her aunts had finally turned in for the night. Briar had promised to turn in herself in just a few moments after them, and she fully intended on keeping her promise-

Glancing once at the doors of her aunts' bedchambers, Briar threw her cloak about her and ventured into the storm, shutting the door quietly behind her.
"Hello?" She called, turning her cheek against the bitter cold as she slowly made her way to the stranger. "Are you in need of assistance?"
