Sentiment
To speak feelings out loud almost surely deforms their very authenticity. Yet, some common thread, common shred, allows us to relate. Is sameness just an illusion or is it a reality that most of us are blind to? Neither or both?Is empathy a presumptuous necessity? Or does it only become presumptuous when spoken out loud? Can I even write this without falling prey to the very thing of which I speak? Perhaps this lauded subject-predicate language structure can be seen in another light. Is it possible that our language limits us in ways other species have avoided? Sure it has its benefits, but it kind of feels like (human) language’s detrimental effects have been understated/ overlooked entirely. Just because something is mostly good, it does not follow that it can’t be a little bad too .
